Hi guys! I'm just going to start with a short presentation. My first adventure was on FM11 with AIK. It's my favourite team who plays in the Swedish League Allsvenskan. I've been playing FM since that and now I think that it would be really interesting to start blogging about it.

This is my first blog adventure here on FM Scout, I'm really excited to see how this will progress, what the readers reactions will be. Hopefully the most of it will be positive full of tips and advices, though don't be afraid of giving me critic on what I can do better and what you want to see more of in this blog. I think that criticism is important for us to grow as a blogger here and as a person in general.

So to the FM part! You've obviously already have figured out that I'm going to play with Atlético Madrid. I think they are a good team, the third best in Spain behing Barcelona and Real Madrid (not necessarily in that order). The main goal is to challenge Barca and Madrid of the title and later on to win it. This goal should be achieved in 3 seasons. I will be playing in the Champions League with Atlético wich is really good for my finance but I will focus more on the league than the CL.

So yes, that's it for now. I hope you will give me your support, this is my first blog as I said in the beginning.

Thank you for reading!

Friendly Games

Hi guys I'm back!
Didn't play so much FM last night because of the Portugal - Sweden game (wich Sweden lost 1-0). But I'm back today and have played all my friendly games. Here they are;
The first game away at AA Gent went pretty good. We had most of the possession as my team should have, that's what I've setup in my tactics. We didn't score a goal by playing us through the defence, we managed to get 3 penalties and David Villa scored everyone of them. AA Gent didn't really have a highlight in the game it were always Atlético, Atlético, Atlético.

The second friendly game of the season was against Stade Rennais. Here we picked up our first loss. I swapped every position in the starting eleven accept Koke, Miranda and Courtois because this game was two days after the previous game and everyone was low on condition. Koke was substituted after 45 minutes. The game was pretty even as you see but we still managed to have the possession and a few shots on goal. I still didn't find that we played very good this game, no clear chances and we didn't challenge them on their half of the pitch. A well deserved victory for Stade Rennais.

Olimpo was the name of our third opponents, it's a team who plays in Argentina in the highest division. For this game we had the starting eleven who is supposed to be the eleven for the season. We played good this game. Having the possession and creating chances and didn't win this game because of penalties. The first goal was from a corner where the Olimpo player Augusto Solari scores a own goal. Good corner from Koke I think and Joshua Guilavogui does a good job when he disturbes Solari and tries to score. The two other goals were from Tiago and Léo. I dream big of young Léo I think he will grow out as a key player for Atlético Madrid wich is really good because David Villa is getting old, though Villa still has one or two seasons left in him.

The last friendly in the pre-season before we face Sevilla away in the first game of the season couldn't start any better. We won this game with 12-0 against Rayo Majadahonda who plays in the third division in Spain. It was highlight after highlight after highight and I really enjoyed to see my team play. It was very good passes through out the game, good finishing and a overall good performance. Diego Costa scored a hat-trick wich were really nice to see, I changed his role for this match to Deep Lying Forward instead of Complete Forward as I've been playing him in the other games of the pre-season. Again in halftime I changed almost the entire eleven and it was a even better half. Man of the match was Óliver who scored 2 goals and three assists I think a good performance by the young 18 year old midfielder.

I will come back later today with the transfers I made and thank you again for reading, I'm really excited to see how this will progress.

Skönt att se att jag inte är ensam svensk! Nice update and keep them coming! Nice results also.
First match, first loss
After our latest victory with 12-0 I felt very comfortable when we were going to Sevilla, it was the first game of the season. Morale was high, everybody were happy and we felt very confident about ourselfs. The referee blow the whistle at 20.00 a cold night in august and the game was on. The Biris Norte (Sevilla ultras) and the rest of the fans at Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán cheered and screamed so much due the entire game. You could tell that my players were disturbed by them.

The game itself was nothing special and Diego Costa who had scored a hat-trick the previous game were invisible, I had to substitut him. Léo the young brazilian striker went on the pitch. I told him "Léo, I believe in you, try to avoid Mbia and move towards Pareja and run into the empty spot when Ardan has the ball, Pareja will never catch you".

The game picture didn't change so much, Sevilla hold onto the ball and managed to play on our side of the pitch. They passed the ball around from side to side when eventually the got a throw in and the ball came to Vicente Iborra. The former Levante player took the ball and tricked Miranda so that he got enough space to shoot. The ball went in near the right post and that was the end of the match. The first match of the seasons resulted in our first loss of the season.

The Spanish Supercup - First leg

On the 21th august it was time, time for the Spanish supercup. The atmosphere at Vicente Calderón was amazing. Both teams had plenty of fans and every spot in the stadium were occupied. As a new manager at the big club Atlético I was a bit nervous, fans everywhere and I was facing probably the best team this decade, Barcelona.

I was determined that we could do a good job in this first leg and later on play disciplined and safe football in the second leg at Camp Nou. Before the game I told my players to watch out what Messi and Neymar does, of course did we scout this year’s Barcelona and figured out how we could stop them. We played a 4-4-2 Diamond with Koke (DM), Mario Suarez (CM), Guilavogui (CM) and Arda Turan (AMC) a little bit up further. Koke, Suarez and Guilavogui all had defensive oriented positions. As Barcelona had Messi as a striker we wanted to close the middle so that he would gain as little space as possible, also so that Iniesta couldn’t get enough space to create anything in the middle.

The whistle sounded and the game was on. We controlled the match really good at the beginning creating chances and tested Valdes. The game continued and we had really done our lesson. Tried to keep the possessions as much as possible and don’t let Messi, Neymar and Iniesta breathe. The clock ticked up to minute 60 and Arda Turan receives the ball. Passing out to my new signed right back from Barcelona, Martin Montoya dibbling along the sideline facing Jordi Alba one-on-one he manages to trick him and cross a beautiful ball to the former Barcelona player David Villa who scores 1-0. The Atlético Madrid players are running towards the corner flag and celebrate in a crowd with David Villa in the middle.

The clock ticks up towards the 84th minute and Barcelona get a corner. Xavi puts the ball next to the corner flag and signals to the Barca players that he’s going to cross it. Strange enough the ball is going towards Messi who wrestles with Koke in the box. Messi falls down after a while and the referee blows for a penalty. After the Atlético players protested against the decision not getting their will through Messi steps up to take the penalty. Courtois stands still on the finish line trying to read Messi. The penalty is taken and goes right up in the right top corner while Courtois going the other direction.

The match ended 1-1 and we felt betrayed by the referee. “I don’t know where the referee did find that penalty, Koke barely touched Messi and he falls to the ground, pathetic” was my comment to the media after the game.

David Villa disappointed after only pull of a draw against his former club.
Transfer Summary

The transfer window wasn't so hectic for Atlético Madrid this summer. A total of two signings was enough when the board of Atlético turned down my proposal of a bigger transfer budget. £4.6M was the total amount of money that I was given.

Our first signing was the japanese attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda. The 27 year old couldn't agree with CSKA Moscow of a new contract and was determined that he would leave Arena Khimki after his contract expired summer of 2014. Keisuke Honda draw a lot of attention of other big clubs like AC Milan, AS Roma and Valencia CF. I saw the oppertunity of making a good signing. It would add a little bit more creativity too our midfield, he would relieve some of the offensive responsibility that Arda Turan has and he would play as a offensive playmaker on the central midfield. A total fee of £1.1M (bought him directly instead of waiting to january) was a real bargain for Atlético Madrid and we're happy that everything worked out perfectly.

Our next signing was a fullback, I've already mentioned him. His name is Martin Montoya and came from FC Barcelona this summer. His fee was a little bit bigger than Honda's was £5M ,but it was a good signing and it added young enthusiasm of the 22 year old fullback.

Players who left Atlético Madrid this summer were Gabi who went to FC Porto for a total fee of £2.8M. Cristian Rodriguez joined Gabi at FC Porto and this was his second time there after he spent his playing career between the seasons 2008/2012 there. The total fee of Cristian Rodriguez was £6.3M Other players who left Atlético Madrid this summer were the goalkeeper Yassine Bounou on a free transfer,Borja Martinez, Iván Calero and Emiliano Insúa went on loan.
