Brilliant start eb, hopefully you'll be top of the State Championship soon! :)

Ponte Preta

Sao Paulo State Championship - March 2013

Matches

March 3, 2013
Ponte Preta 1 - 1 Sao Paulo
Sao Paulo are apparently the team with that guy who everyone signs, Ademilson. He was kept off the scoresheet today, although Osvaldo put Sao Paulo on a flyer. Rafinha equalized and both teams fought hard, but to a stalemate.
Player of the Match: Osvaldo (Sao Paulo)

March 6, 2013
Atletico Sorocaba 0 - 2 Ponte Preta
We had a tough time breaking through, but Lenny finally came through for us in the second half with a goal on his debut. Diogo Rincon doubled the lead for us and made sure we wouldn't lose.
Player of the Match: Diogo Rincon (Ponte Preta)

March 10, 2013
Ponte Preta 0 - 0 Bragantino
We kept up an assault on Bragantino's goal, but just couldn't score, letting them off the hook.
Player of the Match: Ferron (Ponte Preta)

March 17, 2013
Corinthians 2 - 1 Ponte Preta
We held possession of the ball but just couldn't keep up with Corinthians, who gave us the first loss of the season.
Player of the Match: Fabio Santos (Corinthians)

March 24, 2013
Ponte Preta 1 - 0 Portuguesa
Ponte Preta's finishing wasn't that great but Chiquinho secured a Ponte Preta win with the only goal they needed.
Player of the Match: Ferron (Ponte Preta)

March 27, 2013
Sao Bernardo 2 - 3 Ponte Preta
We blew a 2-0 lead and almost lost our win thanks to Fernando conceding a penalty, thankfully he came through on the other end and scored the winner for us.
Player of the Match: Fernando (Ponte Preta)

March 31, 2013
Ponte Preta 1 - 0 Oeste
We got the win, but we waited way too long to score.
Player of the Match: Ferron (Ponte Preta)

Sao Paulo State Championship

We should soon qualify for the playoff.
That result versus Sao Paulo - a team including Denilson, Luis Fabiano, Rogerio Ceni, Antonio Carlos and Lucas - wow! :O

Your team are playing really well and third place is a great position for a team like Ponte Preta! :D
1

Sao Paulo State Championship - April 2013

Matches

April 3, 2013 - Copa do Brasil First Round First Leg
Figueirense 0 - 3 Ponte Preta (Ponte Preta automatically win)
Uendel was the man of the match, scoring off a corner, getting hacked down by Andre Rocha and having him get a straight red, and crossing to a completely unmarked Lenny for the capping goal. Elias scored on a direct free kick, too.
Player of the Match: Uendel (Ponte Preta)

- A weird rule gets invoked here, since we were the away team and won by at least 2 goals in the first leg, we're automatically the winners of the tie and the second leg isn't played.

April 7, 2013
Mogi Mirim 0 - 2 Ponte Preta
Another dominant win, with Adailton and Lenny picking up goals.
Player of the Match: Fernando Bob (Ponte Preta)

- With the win, Ponte Preta qualify for the Playoffs.

April 14, 2013
Ituano 3 - 2 Ponte Preta
This game was a farce, a sham, a travesty, and I will be protesting it vehemently. Both of my goalkeepers were sent off due to the goalkeeper handling bug, which is unreasonably harsh.
Player of the Match: Officially, Ferron (Ponte Preta), but unofficially, Alecio Lezzo

April 17, 2013
Ponte Preta 1 - 1 Audax SP
An early leed with a free kick was undone by a counterattack later in the match.
Player of the Match: Elias (Ponte Preta)

April 21, 2013
Ponte Preta 4 - 0 XV de Piracicaba
We had an excellent performance, not even letting XV have a sniff at goal, and Lenny scored a great brace.
Player of the Match: Lenny (Ponte Preta)

Sao Paulo State Championship

We stumbled once we achieved qualification, but came back strong at the end.

Our first match in the Playoff is against Sao Paulo. We'll get our money's worth right off the bat as this 4th vs. 5th seed matchup should be cracking. Thankfully, as the higher seed, we get a home draw.
A great month, with a slight stutter inbetween. That goal by Felipe Bastos was an absolute screamer! Interesting to see that Botafogo [SP] pipped Portuguesa to qualification :/

Sao Paulo will be a stern test but I'm sure Paulo Souza's tactical nous should be enough ;)

Sao Paulo State Championship - Quarterfinal

The Background

- This match is a rematch of the 1981 Paulistao final, which Sao Paulo won. Will they do it again, or will Ponte Preta take revenge?

Ponte Preta:
Their best player? Ferron, with a 7.69 rating.
Their top goalscorer? Adailton, with 10 goals.
Their top assist-man? Luis Advincula, with 6 assists.

Sao Paulo:
Their best player? Victor Ramos, with a 7.27 rating.
Their top goalscorer? They actually have two, as Ademilson and Luis Fabiano each have 7 goals.
Their top assist-man? Douglas, with 7 assists.

Matches

April 28, 2013
(4) Ponte Preta 1 - 2 (5) Sao Paulo
Both teams battled hard, with Adailton taking the lead for Ponte Preta by intercepting the goalkeeper's distribution and easily scoring, but Sao Paulo countered with Osvaldo's goal in first half stoppage time. Sao Paulo looked like they were wilting with injuries, but as the end of the game neared they gained a second wind and Luis Fabiano's stoppage time goal dashed Ponte Preta's hopes of advancing.
Player of the Match: Adailton (Ponte Preta)

Transfers

In
- None

Out
- Leonardo broke his arm again, and his loan has been terminated so he can seek treatment at his home club.
Never knew this was a repeat of the 1981 final, but that could've added extra incentive to go and win it :/

Sao Paulo are always tough opposition so don't be to disheartened, maybe try do to them what they did to you in the second leg. All the pressure is on them :P
Walter: There's only 1 leg. :P
2013-11-18 14:36#144802 ebEliminator : Walter: There's only 1 leg. :P

EVERYTHING ELSE IN BRAZIL HAS TWO FUCKING LEGS!!!

Brasilierao - May 2013

Matches

May 9, 2013 - Copa do Brasil Second Round First Leg
Atletico Goianiense 1 - 0 Ponte Preta
I did not mean to put Diogo Rincon as a BWM. -_- All around, it was a poor performance but we have the home leg to make things right.
Player of the Match: Bruno (Atletico Goianiense)

May 15, 2013 - Copa do Brasil Second Round Second Leg
Ponte Preta 2 - 1 Atletico Goianiense
Atletico Goianiense win due to away goals rule
This was very disappointing. Elias worked his magic on free kicks, and Adailton doubled the lead, but we let a late goal and it killed our chances.
Player of the Match: Elias (Ponte Preta)

- And now, the second season, the Brasilierao, which is tougher, since each team is top quality.

May 26, 2013
Internacional 0 - 0 Ponte Preta
Ponte Preta had more shots but were more wasteful with them. They had a good chance to win it but just couldn't take advantage. Still, a point on the road to start the season isn't bad.
Player of the Match: Luis Advincula (Ponte Preta)
Injury Update: Betao has fractured ribs and will miss 7-8 weeks.

May 29, 2013
Ponte Preta 4 - 1 Goias
It almost seemed like Ponte Preta could score at will, as Rildo had a big breakout in the first team with two goals. Adailton had a goal, and two more disallowed due to offside.
Player of the Match: Adailton (Ponte Preta)

Brasilierao Serie A Table

Transfers

In
- ST/AMC Elias Oliviera has been signed, he is a young player with some potential.

Out
- Gustavo Lazzaretti has signed with Panduril for R$220K. He was not in the first team plans and a drain on resources.
Unlucky about the Atletico Goianiense result, must have been tough to take :/

And a great start to the Brasileirao!
To take a team like Ponte Preta and already making great strides just shows how good you are. Great job, Paulo Souza
Some great results there eb, I can see you doing really well in the Serie A! :D
Nice one mate, going strong!!
