English Under 19's Impress during International Break

The youngsters for England faced off against two very different opponents during the international break, and at the same time gave two very different performances. In this first match of the break, saw the English squad go into battle in France. An even match ended in the same capacity as predicted. No goals but each side had their chances to steal the win. "We could've played better offensively and we knew that. I was pleased how we handled the French forwards as they are very talented themselves." said U-19 manager Gary Neville. Adam Campbell and Nick Powell did not start the game for the English as they were both facing fitness issues. "Of course we could've fared better with them two in the mix, but it allowed others to see what they could do." said Neville.

The English would welcome the Swiss to England for the final friendly of the break, and it was a good one. An eight goal thriller as the English came from a goal down from halftime to pull out of a win. Two key players missing in the first game, showed up large in the second game. Campbell put two goals in the net, and Powell had one goal and three assists. The game finished 5-3, as three second half goals won it for England. "I was pleased with the fight, it was good to see the heart of these young players. We aren't satisfied though, we shouldn't have put ourselves in a position to have to come back. We will improve defenisively, and continue to grow as a team." pronounced Neville.

England will begin the U-19 European Championship qualifying next month, with match ups with Scotland, Moldova, and Cyprus.
