Radders: Cheers mate!

K1rups: Cheers mate, Belgium are a very good side with a lot of talent, however I don't think they will win irl, but they will go 4th/3rd :P

Pre-Match nerves?

It may sound odd, but I feel slightly nervous in the build up to our game against Macedonia, next week? Even the Serbia game will be pretty even and nerve wracking. One slip up, could see our automatic qualification spot out of the window...especially if Croatia keeps this form up. I shouldn't really be nervous we have risen to 9th in the world rankings, the highest we have ever been. I suppose that doesn't really mean we are going to win, anyone can beat anyone in this game! Maybe my nerves have appeared because of our performance in the Faroe Islands, that's probably it. Not to worry, my aim should be to thrive under the pressure, not to break under it. I am confident we can go out and perform, but as I said...anyone can beat anyone in this game and there can be no room for complacency, I intend to make sure there is none. Maybe I should have some faith in my players self control, I mean we have done this 6 times before, who's to say we can't make it an 8th and put ourselves on 22 points? No one! No one will stand in Belgium's way this time around. Three more matches to go. We can do this! For Belgium.
Belgium :D Lukaku, Benteke, Mignolet, Courtois, Hazard, De Bruyne, Mirallas, Van Buyten, Alderweild..
An amazing team courage!

The fight for first

This international has been perfect. Our first game in the break came against Macedonia, not the strongest of teams but perfectly capable of an upset. However we Belgians have a knack for taking smaller nations down and that knack certainly showed today as we brushed the Macedonians a side beating them 3-0.

The first goal of the game was scored by left winger Eden Hazard in the 6th minute. Atletico Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtious who fired the ball up the pitch from a goal kick just before striker Lukaku cushioned the ball down with his chest and turned brilliantly to play a great through ball to Hazard, who immediately accelerated to the max and smashed the ball right into the roof of the net from outside of the box, he is certainly making up for that dive against the Faroe Islands.

The second goal was a fairly simple one. Romelu Lukaku started off a great bit of play with Massimo Bruno by playing the ball to De Bruyne who then sent the ball through to Bruno who was ready on the right flank to cross in the ball right to the feet of Lukaku who would be ready to pounce on it and direct the ball into the back of the net.

The last goal of the game came from my man of the match Massimo Bruno. The lad was constantly playing risky but very clever balls through to our other attackers, even managing to get himself an assist. The lad deserved the goal and I'd of been surprised had he not got it, the 19 year old took in a pass from Witsel and then ran down the right wing, beating two different Macedonian players, he then took the ball into the box from the flank and smashed the ball right into the far left corner of the net. This was his second game for Belgium, with his first being against the Faroe Islands and then his second being one too remember scoring one of the goals and assisting another. On the downside he was injured in the 82nd minute, it couldn't have happened to a better player, I will certainly be calling him up again for sure.

The second game could have gone one of two ways, we fall to the hands of Serbia, or they bow down to us. Thankfully the game went our way and saw us head ever closer to that all important World cup qualification by battering the Serbians 4-1!

My player of the match was definitely our vice captain (at the moment captain) Axel Witsel. I gave him vice captaincy for a reason and he has replaced Kompany very well, who has been out through injury and will be for the next break as well. Witsel has made many defence splitting passes and even scored in the 16th against Serbia to get ourselves going and ready to score more. Witsel was played through on goal by striker Romelu Lukaku before he then took on the keeper and rolled it over the line, showing great composure and technique in the finish.

Vertonghen and Lukaku also added to the score board making it 3-0, Serbia then got themselves one back in the 59th minute but it was too little too late as just 9 minutes later Hazard finished the Balkans off with a well timed effort from 20 yards that curled around the keeper and into the bottom corner.

So a fantastic break from club football, for the Belgians anyway. Many people say international breaks are boring...personally I believe that's just something the dull, boring English say when there national side perform pathetically. What do they expect they aren't the side they once were. Anyway... This break was perfect and it was certainly an upgrade from our last friendly against the Faroe Islands. Wales and Croatia are next and we must keep complacency out of the way if we are to qualify and keep away from that god for saken play off spot...
