Some questions about training

Hello! First-time poster here :)

So, recently i've been playing FM14 quite a lot. I'm in my fifth season with Arsenal, enjoying relative success (two wins, one second place and one fourth place + a CL final). One thing that has always been a bit unclear to me is training. Each season i tell myself "I will spend more time scheduling training!", but i end up just following my assistant's suggestions. And i would have probably continued to do so, if the following thing did not happen: i purchased the only 5 stars potential player i've seen in my game (Jordi Pijoan, he's most likely generated because i don't see him in the Wonderkids list) and after just one month of training at my team his potential now is 4 1/2 stars. I don't know if this is a big deal, but i took it hard, as if i've failed him somehow :)

So, here i am, asking questions:

1. Considering that training a certain position affects several attributes, and some positions affect more attributes than others, is it safe to say that training a young striker (19 years old, for example) as a Complete Forward is the best idea (as it affects the most attributes, if i'm not mistaken)?
2. In the case of players over 24 years of age, when significant improvement is not to be expected, what is a good plan for training? Positions or attributes?
3. In fact, is it ever better to train a certain attribute rather than a position?
4. How does general training affect individual training? Say i want to train Attacking - will my defenders suffer?
5. What's the general duration of training? For example, if i've told a player to train as a Complete Forward and he does that for 2-3-4-5 months, will the lack of variety affect the results? About general training - is it better to train something, let's say Ball Control, for a whole month, or change the schedule every week?
6. Overall, is Balanced general training the best idea if i have great coaches and great training grounds?
7. In the case of preferred moves - are the coaches always right? For example, if i want a player to learn long throws and the coach says he won't be able to, is it 100% certain? And in general - do preferred moves have a big influence?

I'm pretty sure i had more questions, but i can't remember just now, i may add later.

Looking forward to gain some knowledge! :)
Just a note regarding player's potential - stars are not the definitive sign of his actual PA. Star rating tends to go up and down with time, and of course depending on who is rating the player. It is completely possible that your player will get 5 stars again or drop to 4, but this doesn't mean that he is now determined to turn out exactly as good when he develops.
