Season Update: July 2013

Torquay United 3 - 1 Torquay Under 21s
Liam Prynn (10) - Torquay Under 21s
Elliot Benyon (31) - Torquay United
Krystian Pearce (38) - Torquay United
Karl Hawley (90+5) - Torquay United

Muamba's Thoughts
"It was a great game, not the best of starts but we fought on and eventually won the game. However, it's only a friendly against our Under 21 side, so we have no need to get complacent."

Torquay United 1 - 5 Yeovil Town
Michael Ngoo (10) - Yeovil Town
Alan Tate (17) - Yeovil Town
Paddy Madden (30) - Yeovil Town
Alan Tate (40) - Yeovil Town
Joe Edwards (43) - Yeovil Town
Karl Hawley (67) - Torquay United

Muamba's Thoughts
"We were never expected to win, but a defeat of that deficit was absolutely terrible. I have no other words to describe that friendly match - just terrible."

Torquay United 0 - 1 Notts County
Dean Leacock (61) - Notts County

Muamba's Thoughts
"An improvement from the disaster that was Yeovil, but still not good enough preparation for the league. We need to improve, drastically."

Clevedon 1 - 3 Torquay United
Ashley Yeoman (6) - Torquay United
Elliot Benyon (18) - Torquay United
Ashley Yeoman (45+1) - Torquay United
Jay Garner (81) - Clevedon

Muamba's Thoughts
"Another improvement from the team - we're almost on the right track for my aims this season, and I'm hoping we can get there within the next few friendlies."

Torquay 0 - 2 Watford
Almen Abdi (33) - Watford
Troy Deeney (85) - Watford

Muamba's Thoughts
"While this seems like a bad defeat, the performance in comparison to some previous games was rather good. Watford are a great side, and to pose a threat to them at all is a great achievement for us."

A tough pre-season but it's all about fitness

Torquay announce new parent club

Since Fabrice Muamba took over the managerial spot at Torquay United, taking the football world by surprise, there have been a few changes at Plainmoor. First of all, completely new kits took over - raising concern and controversy. Then the pre-season began and there was success and failure - raising more concern and doubt. However, today, Torquay have announced that they have a new parent club - Arsenal FC.

In a somewhat surprise move, Torquay United and Barclays Premier League side Arsenal have formed an affiliation today, with the Gunners giving the Gulls around £70k each year because of the link.
Arsenal will be a great parent club, looking to be a great story! I knew it would be.

Torquay sign six, one more on their way

Torquay United have made even more changes to their team under Fabrice Muamba, after new kits and a new affiliation with Arsenal. Now, six players have joined the Torquay team, and all of them are packed with potential and are set to take the Sky Bet League 2 by storm.

First up is 15 year-old Cory Paxton, a fullback who signed for the Gulls on a free transfer. Paxton is the youngest signing of the summer, but has been given a 5 star recommendation by the Torquay scouts.

Second of all, Torquay have signed English central midfielder Elikem Amenku. Amenku, 19, also signed for the Gulls on a free transfer, and at his age is going to be underrated by the opposition. However, Amenku has been given a 4 1/2 star recommendation by the Torquay scouts, and is definitely one to watch.

The third new player into the Torquay side is central midfielder Thomas Donegan, who is 20 years old. Donegan is another English player, and has been given a 4 1/2 star recommendation by the Torquay scouts. Thomas Donegan has been hailed as the "signing of the summer" for Torquay fans, and was a coup as a free transfer.

Fourth is 18 year old wonder Walter Figueira, yet another free transfer for Torquay. Figueira plays as a striker, something the Gulls desperately need with Karl Hawley's injury. He's also been given a 4 1/2 star recommendation by the scouts of Torquay. Figueira is likely to be a superstar in the not-so-distant future.

The fifth signing for Torquay is another free transfer in the form of central midfielder Shane Byrne. Byrne, 20, is set to make his Torquay debut on the opening day of the League 2 season against AFC Wimbledon, and the capture of the Irishman has been praised by many. He has a 4 1/2 star recommendation by the Torquay scouts, and is set to take the league by storm.

The final signing is a loan deal from linked club Arsenal in the form of Ghanaian defender Daniel Boateng. The 20 year old is set to be vital in Torquay's 2013-14 campaign, and has been given a 4 1/2 star recommendation by the scouts.

However, one more player is set to join Torquay in the near future, another loanee from Arsenal. This man is 17 year old fullback Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, another Englishman. This deal is set to be done within the next few days, and he'll be able to make his debut on the 10th August against Morecambe.
Ooh, outclassed by Yeovil! You shouldn't be disappointed; they are the kings of the South West!
