[FM13]The Super Leagues of Europe

Hello and welcome to my secondary story here on FMScout! This isn't a very long-term challenge as I will be getting FM14 at Christmas but since, from now until then, I have a lot of spare time so I should be able to get through a couple seasons (maybe). Don't worry! This does not mark the end of FMScout FC, it's just my secondary story that won't matter as much.

Basically, I am using FM13 but with a 2013/14 season database. The other database that I am using is the European League System 16 tiers from here on the site, link here.

I don't know what team I will be using just yet, but my next update will tell you that!

What league is my team in?

My team is in the European Champions League which is the second tier of European Super Leagues. There is 18 teams and my team are predicted to get 17th.

Who am I?

I am fictional spy/mercenary/soldier Solid Snake who is the main character in the Metal Gear Solid series. I wanted to be someone fictional, but someone who people will have heard of. Obviously, for the sake of the story, Metal Gear Solid does not exist in the world of FM and Solid Snake is a real person

What team am I?

I am managing Italian football team, Fiorentina who are based in the city of Florence. Fiorentina have some great players such as, Mario Gomez, Giuseppi Rossi and Massimo Valero. But in my opinion, the defence is where they fall down, and the goalkeeper is nothing special, so lets hope that I am able to fix that and avoid relegation.

Goals

As I am definitely not the greatest FMer, I will be going with the four season plan;
1st Season - Survive
2nd Season - Consolidate
3rd Season - Challenge
4th Season - Promotion
So, as long as I can do this each season I will be happy!

Talking Tactics

I have set up 3 tactics but, like always in FM, I will probably end up just using one. The others are just so my assistant manager will not be on my case.

4-3-1-2

This will be my primary tactic. Guiseppi Rossi will be the deep-lying forward whereas Mario Gomez will be the big Target Man, using his strength and height to storm through defences.

3-5-2

This is more of an experimental tactic. It will probably be more of an attacking tactic, maybe to use against smaller teams in cup games. I have never used three at the back because I always play it safe with tactics.

4-1-2-1-2

This is more of a defensive tactic, using four at the back and a defensive midfielder. There is nothing fancy in this tactic, it's just so I can be solid defensively.

I will be trying all of these tactics in my friendlies which are as follows;

Reporter: Hi, Jose Fernandez here, you sit here as the new manager of Fiorentina. How does it feel to be the first managerial change of the new European era of football?

Snake: It doesn't really make a difference! I mean, at the end of the day it's just like any other managerial change.

R:Well then, how do you feel about being a manager?

S: It's just like any other job. It comes with pressure and stress, but it's something that has to be done!

R: So, you don't think that you'll enjoy management?

S: Oh, no! I work better under pressure! And believe me...I have had much harder jobs than this!

R: What kind of jobs?

S: I think you're getting off topic!

R: Yes, yes. Next question, who would you consider you star players, and who would you class as deadwood.

S: Well, I haven't met the team yet, so I don't know who I will consider selling just yet. I have watched Fiorentina however so I realise that Mario Gomez and Giuseppi Ross will be instrumental in the clubs success.

R: It sounds like you have a lot of faith in your attack, would you consider that the strongest part of your squad.

S: Definitely, I do however believe that I have a good midfielder, they're not exactly world class players, but there is a lot depth there.

R: What are would you consider to be the weakest.

S: Like I said, I don't know who is bad yet, so I'm not sure. However I've heard the defence is quite dodgy. I would also like a new goalkeeper. There's no point having a good attack if you can't keep clean sheets!

R: Ok! Thank you for your time Snake.
