Villarreal boss, Marcelino García Toral, has been sacked by the "The Yellow Submarine’s” board after a series of bad result, latest against Second Division team Real Oviedo, where El Submarino Amarillo was beaten 3 to nothing.

Villarreal is now looking for a new head coach, which could turn out to be 1 of these 3 favorites:

Miroslav Djukic, former manager at Real Valladolid

Lluis Planaguma Ramos, currently in charge of Villarreal “B”

Harry Redknapp, former Tottenham Hotspurs manager

The board at Villarreal announced the club’s new manager, which turned out to be a highly unlikely character in Mikkel Brandt. The unknown Danish manager, who just turned 25, is hired after a good couple of seasons with Fremad Amager in the Danish Second Division. There was many questions to be ask, but in the end was the board at Villarreal quite confident in their pick of manager.

The surprised Mikkel Brandt had this to say:
“I’m very happy and excited to get started with this incredible team, i believe that the team has a huge potential. Eventhough Villarreal got promoted last season I still believe there’s a good chance to qualify to the Europa League anyway.” - said a very happy Mikkel Brandt.

Pre - Season:

I wanted to test out many different things with this young team, which i believe, there is tons of potential in. I also wanted to experiment with some of the players to see who my key-players should be. And after two games or so, it became very clear to me who i should put my trust in, the 24 year old mexican, Giovani dos Santos.

Also i wanted to strengthen my midfield a little, and i instantly had one player in my mind.

Giovani dos Santos’s brother, Jonathan dos Santos.

He has a fantastic understanding for the game and at the same time he has a brilliant physic and wins many balls in the midfield.

Pre-Season results:

VILLARREAL 0 - 1 Brighton

VILLARREAL 1 - 0 Sint-Niklaas (Coppens OG)

VILLARREAL 0 - 1 Ternana

VILLARREAL 1 - 1 Nacional de Madeira (Javier Aquino)

Not super results, but i did a lot of testing, and i believe i’ve found THE tactic. A 4-1-4-1 formation with focus on keeping the ball when we have it, and a aggressive pressure when we loses it.

I’m looking forward to the start of the season and i hope you will follow my story, thanks.

Start of the 13/14 Season

I've tried to prepare as good as i could both with tactics and setting the players up for the best division.

Here is the first results for August:

VILLARREAL 1 - 0 Atletico Madrid

Only one game but a good win over Atletico with some good playing also, and even with a man down we still won.
