Di Matteo: "We can get back into the Playoffs!"

Newly appointed Brighton Head Coach Roberto Di Matteo has today told fans and players that Brighton can still reach the playoffs despite lying in 19th in the league so far.

Di Matteo stated: "The Championship is a very tight league, but also a very unpredictable league so there is no reason why we can't finish in the playoffs" He then continued, "The club finished in the playoffs last year, we were unlucky. The target may seem unrealistic to fans but believe me, it is possible!"

The Chairman of Brighton Football Club Tony Bloom was questioned about Di Matteo's ambitions and he told BBC Sport: "Everyone knows that his expectations are aiming high, but to achieve high, you have to aim high!" He further said, "I don't mind if he fails to achieve this but of course this would be great for the club"

Di Matteo's journey will begin against Huddersfield Town, this fixture will be available on the Brighton website live from The American Express Stadium; 3pm kick off.
Good luck. Hopefully you can make the playoffs.
I want you to make those playoffs, Robertoooooooo

Brighton snap up duo Amos and Miquel

Today, Brighton and Hove Albion have announced the signings of two players. Those being Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos and free agent full back Miquel. Amos has signed on loan until the end of the seaosn following the sale of Casper Ankergren to Fleetwood and Peter Brezovan to Newcastle. Miquel has however signed on a free transfer on a one and a half year deal.

Amos told BBC Sport: "I am very pleased to join Brighton on a loan spell and hopefully I will get some first team football" Ben has also been linked up with former goalkeeping teammate Tomasz Kuszczak. "Tomasz and I were very close at United before he left and to work with him again will be great!"

Portuguese defender Miquel told Sky Sports News: "Being a free agent and at thirty four years old, I felt that my career could be over after leaving Valencia and year and a half ago. But Roberto said he wanted to have experience amongst his side and that I would help my younger team mates. I just can't wait to get started!"

Di Matteo told the club website: "I am delighted to welcome Ben and Miquel to the side, I hope they can make the difference when it comes to playing in games. Whether we bring in any more faces we don't know. The funds and wage budget are very low and it isn't easy!"

Five depart, seven loaned out

I would have kept Forster-Caskey and used him a lot in the first team.

I was tempted to but I felt that with Andrews, Croft, Bridcutt and Agustien there, he would serve better with first team football.

I tend to use two centre mids in my formation!
