Met with the President of the club Bill Kenwright, told me all about the great history of the club and such and such. Told me I have 9.73 euros to spend, with a little over 150k in wages available. Told him I like the squad as is, might look at bringing in a defensive mid on loan to give some depth.

Met with the assistant coach, not a lot to be said from that, just went through the little things needed to be done. Met with the Chief Scout Ian Atkins, head assistant coach Graeme Jones ,and the Head of Youth Development Alan Irvine about the direction scouting was going to be done. Told him 5 scouts are fired immediately, and that was the end of that meeting.

Met with the press today, many questions on how to manage both a club and national team, also on how the direction of the club is going to go. Met with the five scouts that were released today, they accepted their compensation and moved on. Made my first call to a good friend from Brazil, very good man, Newton Motta, scout for many years at Brazilian club Bahia. I asked him to come join the scouting staff, he'll be bouncing around Brazil and Argentina. The next call was to Ramon Maddoni, another very good scout from South America. He has scouted Argentina and Paraguay for years, and I believe he has family in Uruguay. He will be joining the staff on small wages, which is another reason I love scouts from down there. Friendlies will begin in a few days, its gonna be fun.

Pre-season is finished and I feel like we are ready physically for the season. The tactics are beginning to settle in but I don't have a forward that has really taken over during the pre-season. Lukaku has the most talent but he just isn't slotting them yet, Jelavic is probably where I will start with until Lukaku feels more comfortable. We finished 6-0-0 in pre-season, including a really good win over Benfica. Both sides played their 1st teamers and we dominated the match from the get go. The board won't let me have any more than 8 scouts at the moment, and I don't feel like asking for more just yet. I tried to pick up a scout from Eastern Europe, more of the Croatia area of Europe, but I believe Spurs offered a lot more cash to him and he went there. I found Soren Lerby, Danish International, and I believe he will help us greatly. We needed a scout for the Germany, Holland, and Denmark areas of Europe and he fits the bill.

Let out a couple of youngsters out on loan, John Lundstrum went to Walsall, Shane Duffy to Leeds, and Apostolos Vellios to Peterborough. We picked up two players as well, Anthony Reveillere on a free, used to play at Lyon, but he is 33, he wanted low wages and I needed a little depth. Youngster Mason Bennett joined the youth teams as he arrived from Derby on 700K. Youth director made most of this deal, I just approved it, as I was not using the transfer budget this summer window. We had a chance at Thiago Motta from PSG, and had a 850K deal set in place, but he wanted 135,000K per week wages and we just couldn't do that.

First friendly with the Uruguay National Team, and it went pretty well. Started Suarez and Cavani, but had a couple of young players that the press didn't like being included in the squad I selected. Even though we are ranked 5th in the world, we came into the match as underdogs to Turkey, but we dominated the game like I thought we would. Holding possession and then capitalizing on the opportunities, next international break will have us go against Ecuador and Venezuela, I believe we can clinch next time out if we take care of business.

A frustrating month but one where we haven't been destroyed. We sit at 5th but we could be much higher on the table. Won on opening day against Cardiff, 2-1, we held possession but couldn't get anything in net. Odemwingie scored in the 64th to put us down, but Jagielka scored quickly two minutes later on a set piece, then Miralles slipped in behind the backline and scored a 2nd. This next one was probably the most frustrating game I have ever had(on FM/FIFA/Madden/NCAA/Anything). We go up 2-0 in the first half, dominating performance by the squad, Norwich has a man sent off in the 51st and I thought we were now in cruise control. Nope, Norwich scores in the 85th and the 90th to end the game in a draw, unbelievable. We had 68% possession and still couldn't hold onto that game. We had a mid week fixture for the COC, we were matched up with Preston, I played many scrubs and a few youngsters, 120 minutes later, we barely hang on through a penalty shoot out. The final fixture for August had us up against Hull City, we scraped away with a draw, we had 6 CCCs as well.

A very frustrating month that could've been a whole lot better, but could've been a whole lot worse. We really needed to win those fixtures against Hull and Norwich but we will just grind on.

We have officially qualified for the World Cup after winning these two matches in our home stadium. I have felt a ton of pressure with the squad I had chosen, considering I didn't select Nicolas Lodeiro(FC Porto), but I felt comfortable leaving him out for this round. The first match against Ecuador, Luis Suarez put on a show, breaking the goal scoring record for a game for Uruguay. He put 4 in the net and ended up with a 9.9 rating. The front three spear heading the attack was Suarez, Cavani, and Diego Forlan ; I was disappointed with Forlan's performance as he started at the tip, but I had to move him to the wing cause he was so poor, even missed a penalty. The second match was all Cavani, he racked up a hat trick against Venezuela, to put us into the World Cup. We have two more qualifiers and I'm going to field a strong squad to keep our World Ranking high.

Our run of form through most of September has been very inconsistent. Losing Kevin Miralles for 6-8 weeks does not help at all. Our backline is not as strong as it needs to be, and changes are beginning to happen. We defeated Stoke like we should, 3-1, Jelavic had a brace. We gave up zero CCCs for the first time in a while, even though we gave up a set piece goal. We played decent against Spurs, but they jumped on us to quick. We went down 2-0 and we weren't holding possession well at all. Miralles snatched one back but he got injured in the 45th. Leighton Baines missed a chance at the penalty spot which would have tied the game at 2, it was very very costly. Kaboul would grab a goal to make it 3-1, but Leon Osman scratched one back 6 minutes later. We pushed hard to get another but couldn't grab one. We were knocked out of the COC by West Ham United, played most 2nd teamers and youngsters, it eventually went into extra time where Emile Heskey(Yes that Emile Heskey), scored a goal in the 107th to win the match, 2-1. A poor 1-1 draw with Sunderland dropped moral down to a new low, Steven Naismith had to score in the 87th to get the draw no less. Had to call a team meeting and settle everyone down a little. It worked apparently, as our next match we went out and dominated West Brom, 0 CCCs, and a clean sheet in the win.

The rebuilding of our defensive line has officially begun with our pursuit of 20 year old Ecuadorian, Eder Alvarez Balanta, currently playing at Riverplate. We have settled on a fee, but just working on the contract and the timing of the transfer going through.
