So there I was standing out side the San Mames Stadium, a beautiful stadium home to Athletic Bilbao. It had been a while since I managed a Football Club before, surely this can't be too much different to managing Barcelona, Catalonia or Ajax? Athletic Bilbao plays Possession football like them all. Anyways, I went into the stadium, to the reception desk, and the receptionist said 'Ah, Mr. Cruyff, Mr. Urrutia is expecting you.
I went up to Mr. Urrutia's office to discuss a contract with him. I felt a feeling, a feeling I haven't felt in a long time, it was that time again, the time to manage a Football Club.
As I got to Mr Urrutia's office, I knocked on the door, and I opened the door, and he politely said 'Oh, Johan, come in, come in. Take a seat.' 'Hello Mr. Urrutia ,pleased to meet you.' I replied as I shock his hand. 'Right so, Johan as you know we're looking for a new manager as Ernesto Valverde is having some Family issues and is taking a break from football, now I'm going to offer you a contract with us to be our Manager, now I know you are currently managing the Catalonia football team, but this is a full time commitment. I will offer you a wage of lets say £28,500 a week on a one year deal, if you accept to these terms, sign here' He showed me a document with a pen, and as I was about to sign it he said 'Johan, I almost forgot, is there any philosophy's you would like to be judged upon.' 'Oh, ah... Well I guess you could judge me on Possession Football and I would also like to develop players using the club youth system.' I replied. He then happily said 'We have a deal' He wrote the philosophy's down on the contract and said 'Sign here' I got the pen and signed the contract, he shook my hand as he said to me 'Welcome to Athletic Bilbao, your first press conference will start tomorrow and I will let you meet the team and evaluate the squad tomorrow, Good Luck Johan.' 'Thank You' I replied as I made my way out the door.
