Genie Scout 2009 Bugs + Workarounds

Mine says this

Database Version : 1245
Data file seems to be corrupt. Want to read 4 bytes, could only read 3 bytes"

And im only in october first season.

EUGENE the transfer season is near and i need the genie scout can you do anything for this problem please!!!

Cameron87 : The new Genie Scout is good, but the sale value is almost always incorrect which is frustrating if your searching for players available for certain price. Any one else find this?

Sale value is always incorrect in all scout utilities. SI made this dynamic and we don't know the AI of the game on this matter.

jpms1 : im in year 2026 and getting the same database 1245 persons data seems corrupt error.
record type 96.
used the previous version with no problems until 9.30 update.

Have you tried starting a new 9.3.0 game and see if that works? I'm trying to understand whether this is a problem of being 18 years ahead in the game.
Also the errors "wanted to read 4 bytes, could only read 3 bytes" should normally appear if your save game is compressed. Please note that when you disable the option to compress save game in FM preference and hit confirm... you have to save your game again before loading it in Genie.
Also let me know if your games have been started with patch 9.2.0 and then you updated to 9.3.0 or they are fresh 9.3.0.

Ultimately, it would help Eugene if you guys could upload your save games that are not working on rapidshare or some other free file hosting site (such as rapidspread) and post links here.

There we go... saved game with the error about readying 3 bytes not 4.

It'll let the makers look at the dump file to see what is causing the error and hopefully fix it...

i have prepared a txt file with all reported bugs and sent to Eugene. now we'll have to be patient and hope he will find time to take a look. there isn't much we can do without him.

I can still load my old games that I haven't re-saved since the 9.3 patch.

Any of my old games that I now save are unreadable "Unknown database version: 1245"

Playing a brand new game. I started the game on patch 9.3, but selected the original database. Not compressed. "Unknown database version: 1245."

Just to be sure, I did it again, started a brand new league, patch 9.3, original database. Chose Bury in league 2. Saved without compression having done nothing in the game. Unknown database version: 1245.

Then I loaded up a new game on patch 9.3 and chose the 9.3 database update. Unknown database version: 1245.

I did download the game via Steam. I wish I had unchecked the setting that automatically patches the game. As nice as the injury changes have been, I don't use the updated databases, and breaking Genie Scout makes the game a lot less fun for me to play. Hope you guys can sort this out.

I'm a complete tool and was reinstalling the old version. New Genie Scout looks great. Thanks much.

The sale value of some players is incorrect can anyone confirm this?

Example: Jérémy Toulalan is valued at nearly £19 Million but Genie reports he would be availible for £8 million

yes, I already confirmed this in a previous post in this topic. no utility has sale value correct.

its been 12 weeks since i broke my leg so ive been playing fm for about 5 hours a day as i cannot sleep at night.
hopefully should be ok in a few weeks but i may have a limp.
