"We will start strongly" says Peterson

In his latest press conference, Merthyr Town Boss Dennis Peterson insisted that his side side will start the season strongly and show everybody that they have got what it takes to gain promotion after missing out on it for a third consecutive year back in May when they lost 3-2 in Extra Time In the play-off final against Hungerford.

He went on to say "Obviously it was disappointing to lose the game in the way we did but one extra season won't hurt us. There would be no point in going up and coming straight back down." New Manager Dennis Peterson has only been in charge at Merthyr for 6 days and will be keen to show off his managerial skills in his first game against Merthyr Town U21s this Saturday.

Pre-season

Merthyr Town vs Methyr Town U21s

4-2
Played confident, fluid football and looked very dangerous on the attack.

Brislington vs Methyr Town

1-6
Fantastic display from my team! Everything seemed to tick and we were all over them. A very confident performance :)

Wells vs Methyr Town

0-1
Not much to say about this game, A solid overall performance from the boys.

Bishop Sutton vs Methyr Town

2-1
We started the game off really slowly and allowed their players too much freedom. A very sluggish display.

Overall Thoughts

I am very pleased with my teams pre-season. We showed very encouraging signs going into the start of the season and it should be an easy start against Wimborne. Lots of stand out performances from players such as Jamie Rewberry, Aaron Cornwall Ryan Prosser with his superb Hatrick against Brislington.

Player Of the Month

Aaron was by far the most consistent player this month. He always had an impact on the game. He was always a threat to the opposition and caused havoc amongst the opposition defence.
good luck getting to the top!!! arsenal

thanks man!
Solid preseason, looks like you're ready for the real matches to start! :)
Nice to see a (very) lower league save! Interesting to see that a player with mostly very low attributes be your "player of the month", I can't wait to see how you progress in this season
Good luck in your journey to the top!
A good pre-season so hopefully you can do well in the league as well :)
@Neal + pompey: thanks for the support
@ZAhHH: Cornwall is looking promising going into the start of the season.
Good Pre-Season, I hope to see Merthyr in the Prem one day!

Carter leaves Merthyr Town

It was announced this evening that assistant manager Danny Carter has left the Martyrs to become manager of Worcester Park. It is believed That Carter fell out with the board and was unhappy with their decision to Sack manager Garry Sheppard earlier this Month. This news came as a suprise to many with Merhyr town Midfielder Mathew Harris tweeting "What a shame that Danny has left, he was a creat coach and person #theMartyrs"Carter was at Merthyr Towns Pre-season victory against wells however he was quick to leave the stadium and was spotted leaving the athletic ground much earlier than expected.

New boss Dennis Peterson will now go into his teams final pre-season game with no Assistant however some reports on who will take Carters place are claiming that the Martyrs are prepared to offer a contract to Salford coach Barry Massey in order to bring him to Penydarren Park. Nuneaton Griff were close to sealing the deal with Carter however an eleventh hour bid from the Skinners offered a contract worth a reported £200 per week.
Excellent few updates, you made a good choice with Merthyr Town tbh, and good luck for the future! :)
Yeah, piss off Danny Carter! Serves you right for arguing with the board! :P
PS: I once played against the original Merthyr Tydfil for Runcorn FC Halton. They were annoyingly good! :P
