LEAGUE 2: CHELTENHAM TOWN

CHELTENHAM MANAGER SACKED
Today, on the 12th of January, there was controversial news; Yates, former Kidderminister boss, has been removed from his position as manager of Cheltenham Town Football Club. The football club refused to say anything, but the former manager briefly commented- "The sacking was about a argument concerning transfer budgets."

Former Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is favourite to land the job, but Rochdale's Keith Hill has also expressed his interest.

OLIVER TICK APPOINTED CHELTENHAM GAFFER
Sunday League left-back Oliver Tick, 25, has been appointed manager of Cheltenham Town. At 13:46 pm, Oliver tweeted "Sorry to all my friends at Trollingham. I know you'll win the Midland League! But I'm moving on to manage a bigger club: CHELTENHAM TOWN!"
The appointment has generally agitated fans. "Why have we got this kid as manager? O'Neill and Keith are a thousand times better! " was a fiery response. Another one added "Lost all respect for the board. What the flip was wrong with Yates?". That last one is the 4th most retweeted comment on Twitter this month so far. However, the Cheltenham Board felt that experience doesn't mean results and that Tick showed enthusiasm and everything they want in a manager, hence Oliver's appointment.
Good start mate, look forward to it!

FRIENDLIES
Cheltenham1-1 Charlton
Gillespie 46 Kerrmorgant 69
Limerick 1-1 Cheltenham
Bossekota 78 Gillespie 2 PEN
Cheltenham 1-0 Middlesborough
The friendlies, apart from the Limerick draw, were promising. We need to score more goals though...
CHELTENHAM 2-1 Burton
Cureton and Dale scored to cancel out Kee's opener and get us off to a flying start in the league. I should do more games but we've got a Capital One Cup game- against Peterborough away...
A good pre-season and a great debute! Why don't you add some pics to your story mate?
Will do for the Peterborough game :)
ANd thanks for the comment, the Middlesborough win was amazing!

Lee Tomlin's 81st minute strike proved enough to fire Peterborough past Cheltenham.
The opening was scored in the 17th minute as Swanson fired in. However, Gillespie's equaliser on the stroke of the 60th minute looked to have saved Cheltenham from crashing out at the first hurdle in the Capital One Cup. But Tomlin broke Cheltenham's hearts with a late tap-in.
LEAGUE 2 ROUND-UP
Torquay 0-2 Cheltenham
Cheltenham 4-1 Newport
Accrington 1-1 Cheltenham
Cheltenham 1-0 Bristol Rovers

At the end of August, we lie in 3rd, only off the top on GD, and what's more, we deserve to be there. Oh, and don't forget:
Cheltenham 1-2 Coventry
Disappointing result. I know Coventry are in League One but we'll be there come 14-15 too. Plus, they're only mid-table, unlike Peterborough... and we were at home as well!
3rd place isn't bad at all! How many teams promote at the end of the season?
4. Structure goes like this- (example)

1 Scunthorpe
2 Rochdale
3 Cheltenham
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 Newport
5 Chesterfield
6 Rotherham
7 Southend

1st,2nd and 3rd get automatic promotion while 4th,5th,6th and 7th enter the play-offs.
Ok, thanks! Then 3rd place it's very good! :D
