BREAKING NEWS : SKY SPORTS IS REPORTING BRENDAN RODGERS HAS LEFT LIVERPOOL

6th July 2013

Sky Sports Merseyside correspondent Matthew Henry is reporting the departure of Brendan Rodgers from Liverpool Football Club late last night. Speculation is rife as to his successor, or indeed why he and the club have parted ways. A campaign on Merseyside has linked Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher to taking over the managerial aspect of the club as Player-Manager and Assistant Manager respectively, with the start of the season so soon upon us. Reports coming out of London also speculate that Malky Mackay or Sami Hyypia might come for the Liverpool opening.

Liverpool Football Club were unable to comment, as were the offices of owners Fenway Sports Group.

Liverpool Football Club must regretfully inform its supporters that manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to leave the club, effective immediately. It's with a heavy heart that the club says goodbye to one of the most promising managers in world football. The club is currently searching for a replacement, and we hope to have a decision in the next couple of days.

Regards,

Ian Ayre
Managing Director

Dear Liverpool Supporters,

I have decided to leave the club with immediate effect. This is a decision that has been weighing heavily on my heart in recent months. I feel that this is not the right place for me to be at the moment, and as such I have tendered my resignation from Liverpool Football Club. I wish all the best to the team and owners in their future endeavours. I also wish to thank the clubs wonderful fans. Without you none of this would be possible, and you truly are the best fans I have ever encountered. This is a massive club because of you, and for that I thank you, and wish you all the best.

Regards,

Brendan Rodgers
