Sami Hyypiä Appointed As Head Coach

Liverpool FC are proud to announce that Sami Hyypiä has been appointed head coach of the Liverpool first team and will take over from the previous manager Brendan Rodgers.

Sami Hyypiä returns to the club he left in 2009 as a player and joined Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. Sami Hyypiä then hung up his boots at the end of 2011 and was offered the top job at Bayer in the summer and has held the reigns ever since.

Sami Hyypiä was a fan favourite here at Anfield, an ever present at the back alongside team mate and best friend Jamie Carragher.

The former Findland international signs a one year deal keeping him at the club until June 2014.
Good luck!
Good luck mate! :)

Hyypiä: "We Need More Quality"

Sami Hyypiä has expressed his desire to bring in more quality players to Anfield, the ex Finland international wants to add to what he's already got here and is hopeful that should the right players come available then he would like to bring in some reinforcements.

Sami quoted: "We have some quality players here but we could do with adding to what we've already got. we have a fantastic set of lads and I think if we add a bit more quality we could really mount a challenge this year"

Hyypiä also announced that he will not be afraid to call upon his younger players to do a job if he feels that the experienced ones aren't doing their jobs.

"I will look to the younger lads if I have too, If they are good enough to be here then they are more than good enough to be able to walk out that tunnel in the starting lineup, I already know a couple of the lads here such as Yesil. I have worked with him and it's great to have the option to use him if I have to. Also Flanagan and Sterling, they are fantastic young lads who are already more than capable of playing week in week out in the Premier League, so we'll just have to wait and see."

Hyypiä did however refuse to give any details on any names that he was looking at due to respect for the clubs the players are already looking at.

"We have a couple of players on our radar but due to respect we cannot mention their names, we'll just have to wait and see to see how things develop over the coming weeks."
Good luck! It looks interesting :)

I never liked Leiva! And Rakitic is a good signing!
Looking good so far! Rakitic was quality to for me getting the most assists in the league in his first season
