I am going to start my first ever story today, and will keep it going up until I am either sacked or retire as an icon of the club.

Why Arsenal???

Quite simply it is my team, they set quite low expectations at the start and have a great youth set up, so I am hoping to build on the youth side and fulfil minimum expectations from the board for a short period, until I have a new generation of superstars coming through.

I would like to steer clear of major signings, however if they are young and worth the price tag then I will oblige to large transfer sums if need be, otherwise I will be attempting a wheeler dealer approach for bit part players.

I have set in mind so far I would like to sign a holding midfielder to cover for Flamini/Arteta if injured, and also look into the availability of Julian Draxler and possibly change him to a striker over the first year or two so I won't have to purchase a striker as back up for Giroud.

Other than that my pre-season will consist of tinkering with tactics and offloading high wages from the U21 team books.

I will keep you posted on transfer activity and eventually a pre-season round up!

Arsenal confirm first casualty to the revitalization the manager advised he would adhere to when becoming the new manager.
Arteta sold to title rivals Man City for 5 million.
Fans not happy with sale of Vice-Captain Mikel Arteta but manager Chris Aldous has his reasons behind it which he was happy to explain.

“I personally feel at the age of 31 it is the right time to sell a player of this caliber, he has been a great servant for this club but with the likes of Wilshere, Ramsay and a potential new centre midfielder on the way it just makes sense to sell now than to sell for half the amount next season”.

Chris Aldous was pressed for the name of the potential new centre midfielder but he gave no clues or hints to who he was remarking about.
He did however have a few things to say regarding who would take Vice-Captaincy in Mikel’s absence:

“It will be decided throughout pre season, I expect to see a few players step up their games and I will make my decision prior to the premier league starting, I believe most of my players have the potential and it will be down to them to show it to me on the pitch!”

Sky sports have listed the leading candidates are Mertesacker, Sagna, Kocielny and Wilshere.
Good luck with this story! :)
Good luck!
Good luck!

ALDOUS ANNOUNCES NEW SIGNINGS!
Chris Aldous sat alongside new signings Mohamed Diame and wonder kid Julian Draxler today in a press conference and was asked a series of questions.
Is Julian Draxler one for the future or are you looking for an immediate impact?
“Julian is definitely one for the future although he will take part in the future season for us, likely adopting a new position over the year as I believe he has what it takes to become a top European striker in years to come.”
Paying 3.5m for Diame is shrewd bit of business by yourself, do you believe he has what it takes to be an Arsenal player?
“100% he has the quality to play at the top level and I am giving him his chance!”
Rumours are being spread rapidly on the possible move away from the Emirates for young Theo Walcott with Chelsea and City being linked with a possible approach, would you care to comment on the subject?
“It is no secret he is a quality player but he just doesn’t fit my style of play, he will be moving on by the end of the window, it would be highly unlikely I would sell to City due to recent comments by Pellegrini regarding my management style, Chelsea however if the price is right we can talk.”

Pre season round up
Arsenal had a great pre-season going into 6 games 5 being away they came away with 6 wins.
The highlight was a dominating show over Danske bank premier side Cliftonville where Arsenal came away 2-9 victorious!

Loveren 0 – 3 Arsenal
Club Brugge 0 – 5 Arsenal
Cliftonville 2 – 9 Arsenal
Barnet 1 – 3 Arsenal
Giannina – 0 – 4 Arsenal
Arsenal 4 – 0 Antwerp

Change of captaincy.

After some class performances throughout pre-season manager Chris Aldous has decided to Promote Per Mertesacker to Arsenal Captain and push Bacary Sagna up to Vice-Captain for the season ahead.

Looking ahead.

Arsenal have an extremely tough August ahead with games against Liverpool (Away), PAOK (Home), Chelsea (Home) and then back for the returning qualifier against PAOK (Away)
Chris Aldous commented in an Arsenal.COM interview and is quoted saying “Regardless of the games we will be going into every single one of these games attacking and going for the win, this is my mentality and I see no need to alter it this early in the season!”
can anyone open the above?
a very good preseason, but I wouldn't ever name Mertesacker as captain! it's just my opinion:)
