Schalke spend big

FC Schalke 04 have spent big money ahead of the new Bundesliga season, with the signings of Marco Verratti, Corentin Jean, Timo Werner, Sam Byram and Viktor Fischer. All this comes from the money of the sales of 7 players, as well as Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Firstly, we have the sales of Schalke, which include Boateng, Stefan Strandberg, Chinedu Obasi, Ralf Fahrmann, Tranquillo Barnetta, Felipe Santana and Aleksander Ignjovski. Boateng has left to join moneybags Monaco for a fee of £25.5 million, while Strandberg and Barnetta both joined Hannover for £1.2 million and £3.5 million respectively. Santana and Obasi joined Hoffenheim for £2.5 million and £1.7 million respectively, with Fahrmann joining Mainz for £1.2 million and Ignjovski now playing for Leverkusen thanks to a fee of £2.7 million.

Marco Verratti, the young Italian central midfielder comes in to add real quality to the squad. He joined for a fee of around £13.75 million, with another formerly French-based player Corentin Jean joining Schalke for £6.5 million from Troyes. Right-back Sam Byram has joined the Gelsinkirchen side from Leeds for £3.6 million. The England under-21 player chose Schalke over Premier League and Champions League winners Arsenal.

Timo Werner, the young German striker moved to Schalke for a pricy £23.5 million. The striker is regarded as a great prospect in German and World football, so the prospect of him lining up with Draxler will surely make Germany fans drool at the mouth. Danish attacker Viktor Fischer, who Wilmots had expressed an interest in earlier in the year has joined the club from Ajax for £9.25 million.

Sources at Schalke and Inter say that Schalke are looking to sign Croatian centre-midfielder Mateo Kovacic, however the price could prove a massive block for Schalke with Inter demanding £44 million, and Schalke only willing to pay £33 million at most.
