I think it's fair to say Seedorf rates Balotelli :P I hope he does the business for you. He always seems to have an assortment of performances on my saves. Either Brilliant or non-existent, much like real life

I'm hoping he's brilliant for me, really need a goalscorer!

Happy Seedorf, Eduardo double on debut!

When I told Eduardo he would have to cover for Mario as he had a knock, not only could I see the joy on his face, but the hunger in his eyes. I was shocked. I never thought a player could be so happy to cover for his teammate, but then I soon realised why.
The whole team travelled to Greece for our Champions League playoff fixture vs PAOK. The Champions League is a very important competition for A.C. Milan; I know that from playing in it many times. It’s a trophy we have won seven times and that was on everyone’s mind as we flew to Greece.

With our first Serie A fixture being four days after this one, I had to be careful with my team selection; I had to take a risk. A few first team players were rested while Hachim Mastour was given his first ever start for A.C. Milan, it would turn out to be a day to never forget for the young man. The 15 yeard old was brilliant throughout the game; his dribbling skills and confidence played a huge part in the two goals we scored as we won 2-0.
Eduardo gave me something to think about as he scored a brilliant brace and constantly threatened the oppositions defence.

His link up play was fantastic and his work rate was highly impressive. PAOK seemed totally demoralised by the end of the game, but that’s none of our business, we had a job to do and we did it efficiently.

Unfortunately, Philippe Mexes picked up an injury in stoppage time which forced him to depart the game slightly early, we will know the extent of this injury once we arrive back in Milan. I was very happy with the performance, all the players worked hard. I hope the work rate levels won’t drop and they shouldn’t as I will rotate throughout the season.

Nice signings and congrats on winning your first game in charge!

Lights, camera, action!

Walking onto the pitch of San Siro, one of the most historic stadiums in the world was always a pleasure when I was a player at the club. Walking onto the pitch of San Siro, one of the most historic stadiums in the world as the manager of the club, now that's a hold different ball game.

The well designed, elegant home changing room hadn't changed much, only that it looked better than ever ahead of the new season. Any player in the world would love to sit in our changing room game in game out, week in week out, even if it meant they would always be placed on the bench.

The stadium itself looked in fine shape, the grass was perfectly cut ahead of our first Serie A fixture of the season vs Livorno. All the players quickly had a shower before the game, before eating some fruit and getting ready, lacing their boots and pulling up their socks

"Now listen up guys, its always best to start off the season with a win... its a huge confidence booster and it will help send out a clear and scary message to our rivals that this year we are not to be messed with" I told the squad. My words seemed to stay in them as the team jogged out to warm up. I used this 10 minutes or so as an opportunity to greet some fans, take pictures and sign autographs. While doing this, a fan asked me " Seedorf, si dovrebbe giocare a questo gioco, perché ci hai lasciato?" I replied "Vorrei poter giocare, ma non posso e mi dispiace per aver lasciato, ma ora sono tornato".

When the players finally walked out onto the pitch, for the beginning of the game I shook hands with Attillio Perotti, the Livorno manager, we exchanged smiles and while I was walking towards our bench, he said "bentornato!".

The first half was fairly boring to watch to be honest, both sides had few chances and failed to take them. Both sides were also very sloppy but nonetheless, it was a tight first half. In the second half, I told the team to relax and just play good attacking football. This was the catalyst for change. Suddenly, the team started playing with a bit more energy. Nice passes were being distributed all over the pitch and before I knew it, it was 1-0. Keisuke Honda scored the winner of the game giving us the all important three points. Adil Rami picked up a stupid second yellow card, but he will be forgiven.

Next up for as, the 2nd leg of the Champions league playoff vs PAOK.

Tough group for Milan

The senior officials flew out for the Champions League draw for the group stages. Knowing that we qualified through a play off spot, we knew we were bound to get a European giant in our group be we didn't know which one. How did we qualify for the champions league round of 32? Well, in the second leg of the playoff tie vs PAOK a crucial goal from Coentrao which sealed our fate, we would play Champions League football. The celebrations were a lot wilder than I had expected!

The build up to the draw was bigger than ever, over the past few years the competition has grown in popularity and the hunger to be crowned "Champions of Europe", we want to be titled Champions of Europe. It's not impossible but it will take a lot of hard work before it is done.

Before long, we knew the teams that we would face in the group stages of the Champions League and I must say, it wasn't a very favourable draw:

We will have to work very hard to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League. City are a very very good team, I think we should aim to finish in 2nd place, 1st may be a bit too optimistic.
