CHRIS HUGHTON'S ROLL AS NORIWCH CITY MANAGER HAS ENDED
Norwich City have tonight confirmed that the club have parted company with 55 year old Chris Hughton. Hughton had been at Carrow Road since the 7th June 2012 and since then helped the Canaries stay in the premier league whilst leading his team to memorable victories against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. He also led his team to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the League cup, before wins against West Brom and Manchester City ensure the Canaries survival in the Barclay's Premier League.
The Norwich board have said that the club was looking for a new start and the betting has already begun for Hughton's successor. Hughton was never really a fans favourite and they criticised him for his lack of motivation and they disliked his playing style, so the Norwich faithful are hoping that the board bring in someone with a different approach who can lead them on to new things.
Norwich ended last season in 11th position, a fairly average season spiced up with upsets of Arsenal and Manchester United, and the fans gave their team respect for the season as a whole. They have now started to feel though as if their team can go on to better things but do not feel like Hughton is the man for the job.
Harry Redknapp, Michael Laudrup and Paolo Di Canio have been cast as early favourites to take over at Carrow Road and many other managers around England have been linked with the job in the East.
The Norwich board left us a statement which read "We are sad to announce that Chris's time at the club has come to an end. We want to thank him for the fantastic job he did at the club and we wish him well for the future. It was a hard decision for us to make but we feel that it was the right one and now the club as a whole can move on to bigger and better things. A new manager will be announced in the next week or so, and then we get underway with our preparations for the new campaign."
Norwich have already brought in new faces this summer, such as the like of Ricky van Wolfswinkel who recently signed for a fee of £8.5 million from Sporting Lisbon. Van Wolfswinkel scored a total of 28 goals in 55 appearances for the Portuguese side and seemed delighted with the move to Carrow Road, claiming fellow Dutchman Robin Van Persie suggested it to him.
Norwich's pre season begins with a game at Debrecen, before playing Lausanne, Deportivo, Kings Lynn and Elche. They finish pre season with a home fixture against Gerona, before heading to Craven Cottage where they will begin their 2013/2014 Premier League campaign against Fulham.
