Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of Vincent Jones as their new manager on a 1-year contract.
Jones, aged 49, formerly played for Leeds United for two years, making 46 appearances as a Defender for the club. Despite only playing a small number of games for Leeds, he is seen as a club legend.
He returns to the club as a manager after Brian McDermott, who was at the club for approximately three months, reluctantly came to a conclusion to step down from Leeds. The reason for this is thought to be the recent fallout between the manager, and owners GFH Capital.
David Haigh, deputy chief executive of GFH Capital, said: "We approached Vincent on a 1-year contract with the hopes he would be able to spark a revival at the club. We are delighted he accepted our offer after considering it for 48 hours."
"Obviously, we aim for Promotion this season. We have been in the Championship for several years now, and we feel it is a suitable target for the club. We feel Vincent has the ability to bring Premier League football back to Leeds United, and we would not have appointed him otherwise".
Due to the recent appointment of Vincent Jones, several other Leeds United legends may return to the club. Lucas Radebe is linked with the Assistant Manager role, whilst Gary McAllister is considering becoming a Coach at Elland Road.
