Managers Thoughts

We had a fantastic month in the league, but we are struggling to take that form across into our European games. I think we will qualify from the group but we need to win all of the 3 games left. The recurrence of Inigo Martinez in the squad has been a major boost. Our defense is a lot more solid and with Rajkovic now coming back to fitness we will have a fully fit defense bar Anthony Reveillere. Sergi Samper has really came into his own playing alongside Ruben Pardo and along with either Yossi Benayoun or Esteban Granero in the hole they link up fantastically to release the 2 wide men and wingers, But we need to become more clinical. We are retaining possesion and have had 60+% possesion in all of our league games but we are not getting our shots away our hitting the target as often as we should. For example we should have had 3 or 4 goals tucked away against Valladolid.

Player of The Month

I've awarded the Club Player of the Month to Esteban Granero. He has been dynamite sitting in the hole and every great move we have played has gone through him, He's a loanee but I may have to consider a phonecall to QPR to make his move permanent. He's become key and fits around the philosophy i'm implementing perfectly. He's assisted 6 of the 13 goals we scored this month!.

Sociedad Eliminated from Europe.

After some rather drab performances from a team considered in-form in their league. Real Sociedad have been eliminated after drawing 2-2 with Vitesse, the 2 likely progressors from the group look to be Stuttgart and Habib Tel-Aviv.

Things looked bright after a strong first half left Sociedad 1 goal to the good from a fabulous 25-yarder by Xabi Prieto. But after the break Chelsea-Loanee Gael Kakuta, gave Vitesse an equaliser after pipping Martinez to a rebounded shot and tapping in from close range. Griezmann then gave Sociedad the lead again with a fantastic solo performance but it was that man again Kakuta who was to take the headlines with a bit of trickery to beat some lacklustre defending from Alberto De La Bella and slot past an oncoming Omar Bravo.

"I'm thoroughly disappointed, We began the year in the Champions League and were unfortunate not to progress there, But to enter the Europa League at the group stage and not even come close to qualifying is extremely annoying, We are showing some great form in the league which is a credit to the lads but until we can carry that form into every game no matter what competition I will not be happy."

Managers Thoughts

We have been eliminated from the Europa League and although it's upsetting I think it's a bit of a blessing in disguise for the lads. We're not currently a team who can challenge in Europe and domestically. The lads are looking fatigued after travelling so much and I think it can only help us get better in what is up to now a wondrous domestic season. We are playing out of our skins and sitting 4th in the league. We are attracting a higher calibre of player and I'm noticing that with agents offering their players to our clubs. That's all down to the European football and I hope to compete in that again next year when we are more well-equipped and ready. Next season is what we're currently building towards and building towards it fantastically in the league.

Player of the Month

This month's Player is Sergi Samper, At just 18 he is performing fantastically. Breaking up the oppositions attacking play and beginning ours. He is linking up well with Pardo and is keeping Zurutuza out of the squad which he is clearly unhappy about, but to be honest I couldn't care less. Age is not a factor in how I pick my squad. If your good enough you're good enough and my good this lad is good enough!.

Vela Heads For Etihad Medical

Manchester City and Real Sociedad have agreed a fee of 28 million pounds for Mexican forward Carlos Vela. Vela is in Manchester today for a medical and the deal is set to be completed today. The general feeling around the stadium is that Carlos Vela will be missed but 28 million is an offer to good to be refused.

'It's sad to see Carlos leave, He has been sensational this season and it was only a matter of time before clubs came in sniffing. He asked us to allow him to leave as he wished to play in the premier league. Arsenal were another team interested and unfortunately we had to accept a fee of 3.4m due to a clause in his contract when he joined us from Arsenal. We spoke to Vela about his options and he wanted to benefit Sociedad and he has told us that one of his main reasons for joining City and not Arsenal.'

The manager declared that Vela will be replaced and the money brought in by Vela's transfer is at his disposal and the club can expect to see 1 or 2 arrivals this month.

Mangala And Vargas Set For Anoeta

Real Sociedad announced the completion of two signings today. Eliaquim Mangala arrived from Porto in a deal suspected to be worth 10 million whilst Eduardo Vargas joined for a more modest fee of 800 thousand pounds.

Jynx stated that he believed Vargas could be an ideal replacement for recent loss Carlos Vela and stated that he believed Mangala was the calibre of a Real Madrid or Barcelona player and his abilty could steady the ship for Sociedads defense.

I believe both signings are great coups for the club. Eduardo has joined us after being at Gremio. He scored 24 goals in the 6 months he was there over just 31 games. Eliaquim expessed a great desire in linking up and forming a partnership with Inigo Martinez. Eli is a fantastic individual and he is of the same calibre of Real Madrid or Barcelona players. I am honoured that both players chose to join our club especially Eduardo as I know he had a number of clubs chasing his services from the Premier League.

Two Also Arriving In Summer

Sociedad also agreed deals to bring in Julian Brandt from Wolfsburg and Poi Balleste from Malaga. Both players are joining when the contract expires and Jynx declared they will be fantastic players for Real for years to come and said he believed Brandt could become a club legend if he remained loyal to the club.
