22 year old centre back Gavin Gunning has made the switch to Birmingham city from Dundee United, the deal reportedly worth 500K plus future incentives that could boost the transfer to 675K. Gunning won't be joining Birmingham to the end of the season. It is believe the player has signed a 2 year contract with Birmingham worth £109,200 a year.

Gavin Gunning took to twitter to express his delight at signing for plus, "I can confirm that next season I will be pulling on a Birmingham city shirt to run around the pitch, I am delighted to be given this opportunity, and will relish the challenge.

Gunning is no stranger to English football having played for Blackburn Rover until 2011, although his failed to make a single appearance for the club. He has also played Tranmere, Rotherham, Bury and Motherwell before making the switch to Dundee United, where he has made 71 appearances scoring 5 goals.

Birmingham City manager Trevor Francis said in a press conference, "Gavin is an amazing player and at the young age of 22, he has a very bright future domestically and internationally, his record for Dundee United speaks for itself and I can't wait to see him pull on a Birmingham City shirt.

The second signing in the January transfer window is Chelsea's Milan Lalkovic. The 21 year old winger/striker has joined Birmingham for what is believed to be worth around the mark of
180K and has with future incentives making the total transfer value 245K. Lalkovic will be joining up with the Birmingham squad on the 5th of January. He signed a contract which last till June 2014, it is believed to worth £377,000 a year.

We haven't been able to ask Lalkovic what he feels about the deal but we did speak to his agent, who said, "Milan of course is delighted at the chance to be getting more first team football."

Milan Lalkovic has set to make a appearance for Chelsea and while on loan at Walsall he played 18 games, scoring 3 goals.

Trevor Francis said, "I haven't really watched Milan much, but when I have watched him he has been excellent, he can play anywhere on the wingers and upfront, the guy is only young so he can be a massive player for us in the future"
Awesome signing in Gunning and some good results in your career so far!

BIRMINGHAM PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Andrew Shinnie

This month Shinnie has been a big player for the club, not only has he scored some extremely vital goals but he has played a part in the majority of them. He got Player of the match against top of the league Brighton and scored what turned out to be the winner, he also scored an absolute screamer against Chelsea. This award could have easily have gone to either Shinnie, Dan Burn or Etien Velikonja but performance in the last game against Leicester was the deciding factor.

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Marcus Pederson (Barnsley)

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dan Burn (Birmingham)

TREV'S VIEW

A great month for Birmingham city came to a end with 2 very disappointing results, but I am extremely pleased with our January results. First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to the supporters for the brilliant support that has been given during the last 2 months, and I hope that they found the Chelsea game as exciting as what I and the players did. Some massive performances in this month has helped us out, especially from Andrew Shinnie, Dan Burn and Etien Velikonja, without them we wouldn't have won many of these games. But a team isn't made of 3 players if you had put them with a different squad then they probably wouldn't have played as well, but I have a brilliant squad at my disposal, and have been delighted with how everyone has played lately.

Dan Burn

http://i4.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article6462586.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Dan-Burn-6462586.jpg

This is Dan's second Birmingham player of the month, and this month he was clear cut, only he deserved it, out of the 6 games that were played 3 of them he got player of the match. He also got 3 goals, he looks like a future star for any team. It's also looking more likely with each month that he will get the player of the season award.

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Oliver Norwood (Huddersfield)

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Michael Ngoo (Yeovil)

TREV'S VIEW

Well again it's been another decent month for Birmingham, but every month has been ended with a very disappointing loss. It's look ever more likely that promotion is a possibility. Dan Burn has had an especially good month he started off extremely well and faded as the month went on, and again Etien Velikonja has had another strong month for us and hope both of them can carry this on.
Nice fa cup results!
why u beat the mighty brighton :(
Keep going ande you can win the cup!

MARCH

Daryl Murphy(7,22)

Antonio Valencia(3), Marouane Fellaini(19) - Dan Burn(54)

BIRMINGHAM PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dan Burn

This is Dan's 3rd Birmingham Player of the Month, and his second in a row, he got this award, because even though we have had some very poor results he has been there performing well above any other player in the team, he was runner up to both the Championship player of the month and the Young player of the month. He even scored against Manchester United, he got Player of the match twice in March, against Manchester United and Millwall, this has topped off a brilliant season for Burn, but with 2 months still left to go he will be a essential of Birmingham promotion charge.

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH

lukas jutkiewicz

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Saido Berahino

TREV'S VIEW

This has got to be the worst month we have had since August, its been fall of disappointment. We got knocked out of the Fa Cup but I'm not going to dwell on it because the players went out and gave a brilliant performance against United but losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich and two very disappointing home draws to QPR and Bournemouth has made this month what it is. Even so Dan Burn has been excellent as expected runner up to both Championship Player of the Month and Young Player of the Month, lets just hope that the rest of the team learn from his performance and have the best 2 months possible as it's going to take a lot to gain promotion.

BIRMINGHAM CITY PROMOTED

http://www.bcfc.com/cms_images/squad2-4x3101-1006251.jpg
After a very difficult start to the season, Birmingham city have been promoted to the English Premier League. At the start of their season their expectations must not have been to get promoted, but must have been a mid-table finish, especially with media expectations putting them in 17th at the start of the season.

At one point near the start of the season they were living up to this expectation, not performing anywhere near the standard for promotion, but some how they picked themselves up and dusted themselves off and have the chance to take their game to the big clubs in English football.

Birmingham will be no strangers to this type of competitive football, playing 3 of the 20 premier league teams in this seasons FA Cup, beating Chelsea and Hull and narrowly being defeated by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Their have been some amazing stand out performances from some of the players, Dan Burn has been an essential part of their defence and Neal Eardley not only again being a star defender also getting the majority of the teams assists. Etien Velikonja being the clubs top goal scorer with over 20 goals.

They were promoted after a the 4-2 beating of Leeds.

One man that will be extremely happy with this is Birmingham city manager Trevor Francis this is what he had to say, "I am absolutely delighted, the way the players have performed all season, and I would like to say a massive thank you to the supporters for their support, and I am delighted that we have been able to give them something back."

One supporter at the club said, "What a season, Trevor if you weren't already considered a hero by the supporters you now are, what a man. I am looking forward to what he can do next season with the club, hopefully a few new signings are in store"

One reason why this has been so unexpected is due to the financial state of the club, they are up for sale and nearly bee brought twice, both times would have seen Francis lose his job.
Yay! Promotion!
btw who was promoted as well and who was relegated?
good luck in the pl

BIRMINGHAM PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dan Burn

http://www.bcfc.com/cms_images/match/swanseathereaction-640x480101-1077214_478x359.jpg

Again and again, he has been the stand out performer for the last 3 months. This is his 4th Birmingham Player of the Month, and his 3rd consecutive Birmingham Player of the Month. This month he has scored 4 goals and for a defender this is outstanding. I will definitely be doing all I can to bring him back to St. Andrews next seasons, but after a excellent season I'm not sure he'll want to come back.

TREV'S VIEW

What a brilliant season, thank you to all that believed in the team, we were backed as mid table obscurity, but we went 3 steps further and got straight promotion, I couldn't be any happy at this moment in time. I am so pleased with the players performances I knew that would do the business when they were called upon, I am looking forward to managing in the Premier League and I hope that we can keep our main players.
Well done on promotion but I'm sad that Brighton failed in the playoffs. Oh well
Any hints for some signings?

BIRMINGHAM FINALISE THE SIGNING OF 8

Arguably the most busy manager of the transfer window so far has been the Birmingham City manager Trevor Francis settling the signing of no less then 8 players.

When asked if he thought signing 8 players was a bit undermining of his current squad Francis said, "Of course not, we needed some depth in the squad as we have some positions that don't have players that are of Premier league quality and in some positions we only have a one player playing there, so no."

All of the deals have been kept quiet and undisclosed for the foreseeable future but word coming from inside the blues camp is saying that a few of the players that were loaned to Birmingham last season have returned on full transfer, but we don't know who as of yet.

Birmingham have said they will be announcing their signings on the 10th July 2014, just before their first pre-season game against Aldershot, which they will definitely be using to test their new signings out. From this what we do know is that these times are definitely some very exciting times.
Really good story to read, I wonder who it is who has been brought in. :)
8 signings, nice, still, I signed 10 players (1 was heskey). And still got relegated from the champ so don't sign too many
but looking forward to seeing who they are
