Step by Step

Hey guys and welcome to my new story. Yes, I know I have created a lot of them, but for the millionth time I really believe this one can go far. I have loaded up the official Lithuanian and Gibraltarian leagues only, and have made every other nation in the game able to view.

So what team will I be? Well, I decided that what I would do is let FM do the talking by randomizing my team. I ended up with Gibraltarian outifit 'Manchester 62' who play in the first division in Gibraltar with a predicted finish of 3rd place.

I have reviewed our team, and realize that our only threat in the league will be Lincoln (GIB). If we want Champions league qualification we must make every game count and we cannot afford to slip up! We are the only realistic team in the league that Lincoln could actually drop points against, so beating them home and away is crucial. Even a draw would make me happy.

Our facilities are obviously not the best, with pretty basic youth and training facilities. We do have a good history winning 7 Premier divisions, 4 Gibraltarian Rock cups and 2 Reyes cups, all in the space of 51 years (since we were founded in 1962).

My aims for this season is to reach a European Competition, whether it is the Europa League or Champions League, we need the money to become a professional team, because as an amateur team, our players can come and go as they please...Even our staff leave without warning.

So, I will be updating from a first person view, each month. Obviously I will make it interesting, but I want no crap. No media updates, no creative writing as this is what puts me off my other stories. I hope you enjoy guys!
Good luck! only one now with anything to do with Gibraltar in their story so good luck:D
Good luck man !
Good luck :)

Pre-Season & Transfers!

So, a week after having joined Manchester 62, I was settled into the club, my tactics were in place, and every thing was sorted for the coming season...Except our all important transfers. There are no players we bought really worthy of a mention, except for our new striker George Cabrera. we didn't have a decent striker, and we picked him up on a free. (Due to clubs being amateur) He joins from title challengers and rivals Lincoln (GIB).

I take friendlies with a pinch of salt, although If these pre season results are anything to go by, our season will be very disappointing. We lost our assistant manager a few days prior to the second game on a free, and I was unable to bring another in, we also lost many of our coaches and now find ourselves with just the one. So there is no way I could base a season on these games, especially since our inexperienced coach had been taking charge.

Obviously, these results are disappointing but with my management, I believe I can turn our season into complete glory. Getting the best out of my players is a must, and I must also work on my man management. With practice comes perfect, and I think this season can fine tune my management for the next.

We will be kicking off the season at home to St.Josephs, a team predicted 4th in line for the throne, if we can win here, and get off to a good start, we can then push on and look toward the next game against Lynx FC, predicted to come 2nd. So clearly not an easy start, but we'll make a right go of it!

October - A Positive Start.

Our pre-season was by no means something to remember. We slipped up to some small teams in the league, and even smaller ones in the division below ours. But nonetheless, we kept our heads high, and did what we said we would, make a right go of it...Have a bash at it.
We always would have wanted to start well, and so we did. At no point did we drop our heads after an appalling run of games. We held them high, and looked forward.

October consisted of just the one game, St.Josephs. The game wan't what I would call exciting, but it was a win in the end. Our new striker George Cabrera scored his first goal for the club on his debut, and put in a solid display, although...he could have scored a few more.

The rest of the team were also brilliant, obviously without their defensive efforts we wouldn't have gone on to win, everyone pulled in the right direction and continue to pull in that direction. Cabrera is our Player Of The Month, for scoring our only goal and winning the game for us.

Good result there mate, hopefully you can keep going :)

November - Consistency the Key.

After our fine start to the 2013/14 Premier Division campaign at home to St.Josephs, the squad were on a real high and were very confident about their upcoming games against the likes of FC Glacis and Lynx FC. The next month would really test our ability and determination and we were sure to pass this test.
The month started off well, with a clean, solid win away to expected title challengers Lynx. We won the game 2-0. Our central midfielder Haveland scored the first goal and our young and talented striker Giles Lopez got the second to round of a nice win.
We then came up against College Europa back at home, and we were persistent on making our 2 wins into three. Our new striker Cabrera scored the first of 3 goals in the first half, and we were looking good, however 15 minutes from time we saw a Europa striker break free and score the equalizer. From then on the game looked as if it was heading for a draw, but Lopez had other idea and tucked away a neat finish to secure 9 points in 3 games.

Now we would face a tough match against FC Glacis. We were on form and looking the real deal however for the first time, our strikers just couldn't score. We squandered chance after chance and I think I may have even watched a few open goal chances sail over the bar on occasion. Our performance was good but the finishing was terrible.
Now, it was Lions Gibraltar. A tough team that would definitely have a say in who wins this league, but also a tough team that had next to no chance of winning it themselves.
Once again, we chances left, right and centre which all flew high wide, and not at all hansom.
However not so long before the end of the game, a defender saw an opportunity arise. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his ticket...He struck the ball, an outrageous shot from 30 yards fizzed into the top corner! The raffle was won, and so was the game, 3 points going Manchester's way.

So, a fine month. What better way to start the season than to grab 13 points out of 15? Obviously I'd have liked more, but we stand second, a point off Lincoln, and I remain confident of winning this league, regardless of where we or Lincoln are. I can tell, from just these first few games that this will be one hell of a season.
Our player of the month goes to Giles Lopez. The youngen has scored a few crusial goals for us and without him, 13 points would have become 7.
