This is a side save to my Keegan Adventure but the urge to do it just swung it for me.

Background On Leamington Brakes

Leamington Football Club is the main football club in Whitnash, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England, currently playing in the Conference North.

In 2005 the team beat 5 teams (with 2 replays and penalty shoot-outs) to make excellent progress in the FA Cup, gaining significant national media coverage, culminating in a 9–1 defeat to Colchester United, a professional team six leagues above Leamington, in the First Round Proper. To celebrate the cup run the Warwickshire Beer Company created a bespoke beer called Brakes Fluid, only available from the club shop. At the start of the 2008–09 season the senior team became affiliated with Leamington Lions, the ladies team and the Leamington Junior Brakes teams.

History

The club was founded in 1933 as Leamington Borg & Beck, known as Lockheed Borg & Beck, as they became associated with a local works. The team soon became Lockheed Leamington, and then AP Leamington in 1973, as the works team for Automotive Products. In 1985 the club returned to their original name, but within three years the ground had been sold and the club went into hiatus until re-emerging in 2000.

With the club at its playing pinnacle, Automotive Products decided to sell the Windmill Ground in Tachbrook Road for housing. The last match was played in April 1988.

The club was relaunched in 2000 playing at the New Windmill Ground in Harbury Lane, Whitnash, (a small town adjoining Leamington to the south), and winning two successive promotions: the Midland Football Combination Division Two title in the first year and as runners-up in Division One a year later. Three years later Leamington gained promotion to the Midland Alliance. The current 2012/13 season saw the club win the Southern Football League title.

Famous ex-players include former Coventry City captain Charlie Timmins (1958–1961), and George Green, who won the 1925 FA Cup Final with Sheffield United.

Kits

The New Windmill Ground

The New Windmill Ground has been Leamington's home since the 2000–01 renaissance. The ground is built in the shadow of nearby Chesterton Windmill on Harbury Lane, Whitnash just outside Leamington Spa. It is fully owned by the club.

As of February 2008, the ground contains a match pitch and a practice pitch, car park, licensed clubhouse and changing rooms, a snack bar, club shop and a tuck shop, and an electronic scoreboard. There is covered terracing on the South side ("The Harbury Lane End"), covered seating on the East side ("The Sheepside"), terracing on the North side ("The North Bank"), and a new small covered stand on the West side. The ground has full floodlighting and PA facilities. Entrance is via turnstiles at the southwest and, since February 2008, northwest corners.

Supporters

Leamington used to enjoy a high level of support for the club's position in the league system. The average attendance for home matches for the 2011–12 season was 507. The highest attendance at a New Windmill Ground match was 1,634 when Stourbridge visited on 5 May 2008.
Leamington does not have an official club song but in the early seasons "Pomp 'n' Gold", a fusion of Elgar and Spandau Ballet was used prior to the teams walking out onto the pitch. For the 2011–12 season The Roller by Beady Eye is played whilst the teams run onto the pitch. In addition a popular song on the terraces is 2Bods adapted from an FC United of Manchester song with the words changed to suit the club. To celebrate the FA Cup run of 2005 the Warwickshire Beer Company, a local microbrewery based in Cubbington produced a special ale called Brakes Fluid especially for the club which is still sold today. The club's fanzine is entitled Windmill Wonderland. Since 2000 the club have had three supporters organisations. The first was The Friends of Leamington F.C. which was followed by the Leamington F.C. Supporters' Club. Currently there is a supporters' trust run by the fans named The Brakes Trust.

In June 2007, planning permission was granted for further development, intended to bring the ground to the standards required by the Southern League. This planned development includes a new covered stand on the west side of the ground (subsequently completed in 2010), and an extension to the clubhouse. In December 2007 terracing to the North Bank was completed and first used on 26 December for a league game against Romulus, which ended as a 1–1 draw.

In April 2008 the ground was awarded a 'D' grading making it suitable for use in the Southern League Premier Division. New terracing to the Harbury Lane end, consisting of six steps, was unveiled in a pre-season friendly against Conference South team Newport County on July 19, 2008.

Rivals

Leamington's primary rivals are Rugby Town AFC and Nuneaton Town. Other rivals are Bedworth United, Racing Club Warwick from the nearby town of Warwick, and Stratford Town from Stratford-upon-Avon.
Good luck man
Good Luck bro, will be reading :)
Nice intro. Good luck, I'll be following along
Let's bring them back from obscurity Jason! :P
Good luck mate!
Good luck Jason :)

Holloran Quits!

I had been going to see Leamington for 4 years! Paul Holloran had just taken them to the Skrill North. He is like a legend to me, so when he resigned I was shocked but also saw an opportunity.

How great would it be for a fan to take over his local club and see what he could do with them. I have have had some footballing experience but I am more suited to playing rugby than football but I decided 5 years ago to get a coaching badge.

It was extremely hard work but could now be worth it because I only want to start small. Oooh I remember the days when I was watching Leamington in the Southern League and we were getting destroyed 4 or 5-0 only for the first month because we then went and bolted to promotion but it would not be so easy in the Skrill North.

I went home and told my Mum and my Girlfriend that I was going to call and acknowledge an interest in the Leamington job and to be honest they were in fits of laughter because I had no experience at all and they thought I wouldn't be able to handle it being only 28.

Anyway to cut a long story short I applied and got an interview!

When I came out of the interview, I new I had done enough to be offered it and was offered a 1 year deal to guide them to a top half finish in the first season. Mum and My Girlfriend were absolutely shocked but it meant my Girlfriend would get some peace and not have to listen to me talk about tactics every day....Atleast thats what she thinks!

Signings In For Leamington

Since taking over the Brakes I have been very busy signing players and working out what the best squad is so I thought I would check in and maybe introduce a couple of players that we have to you.

I think maybe we should start with former Coventry City defender David McNamee.

David is a new signing at The New Windmill Ground since joining from Nuneaten in the Skrill Premier. McNamee has played in the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Championship and The Sky Bet Championship. He will provide the squad with some experiance that we need

Dan Preston, a new signing from Skrill North rivals Telford, started his career at Birmingham City in 2007/08 but failed to make a league appearance during his 4 years at the club. During this time he also spent time on loan at Hereford United, making 4 league appearances.

In July 2011 he joined AFC Telford United, making 52 league appearances and scoring one goal. During this time he also spent time on loan at Barrow and Stourbridge, making no appearances for the club.

Jack Lampe began his career at Harlow Town in 2008/09, making a total of 4 appearances. Lampe joined West Ham United in 2009/10 but failed to make a league appearancefor the club.

Lampe's spell at West Ham didn't last long and in July 2010 he joined Bishop's Stortford, making 11 league appearances in 2 years. In November 2012 he joined Concord Rangers, making 15 league appearances and scored one goal.

Although only 17, Will Summerfield was discovered by MK Dons but moved to Leamington and he could be a real star in the making. I can not wait to see his development.

Good signings. I hope they can contribute.
Good luck, nice start.

Brakes Show Class In Month One

There we have it Ian Smedley bring the second half to a close and Leamington have recorded their forth consectitive victory in the Skrill North and here in Colwyn Bay it should have been more that the one goal.

The goal was scored by Danny Newton and amazinging this was his sixth goal in five matches for the Brakes. He has only failed to hit the net once this season and that was the 2-1 victory against Boston United. The manager of the Brakes spoke to The Non-league paper after the match and Lippitt heaped praise on the former Brackley man. Danny has been absolutely amazing at the start of the season and considering we were predicted to finish last this season, we are joint top with 12 points.

The season started badly for Brakes when Lippitt picked the complete wrong side and Bradford Park Avenue taught Leamington a valuable lesson for the life in the Skrill North. However they bounced back 3 days later when Danny Newton scored two and Lampe got the third in a 3-1 victory which surely showed the teams in the league that Brakes were not going to be whipping boys this season.

They then beat highly fancied Boston United 2-1, with Dan Preston scoring his first goal for the club since his move from Telford United in the summer.

Then a easy 2-0 win against Gloucester with again the impressive Newton scoring two goals. Lippitt was absolutely ecstatic with the run of form because we are favourites to go down, that will not obviously happen but Lippitt will wonder if they can do the impossible and challenge for promotion.

Brakes 1-2 Bradford PA

Newton (61)

Hednesford 1-3 Brakes

Newton (7)
Lampe (16)

Boston United 1-2 Brakes

Player Of The Month

The is no other player that could be Player Of The Month other than Danny Newton. The striker has hit six goals in five matches and I hope he will hit the back of the net like that every month.

Skrill North League Table

Leamington are lying 3rd on goal difference. Histon, Stockport and Altrincham are the other sides joint on points at the moment.

Upcoming Fixtures

Big match first up this month with Altrincham, Stockport are good at home and then a derby with Solihull Moors. The month ends at home against Gainsborough.
Good month but you lost to PA what did I say! :(
Good month mate! Keep it up!

Not The Best Month For The Brakes

So we had four matches ane the thing about this league is you are going to lose games, but it is really who loses the least games out of everyone.

The Altrincham match was a important one but they totally outclassed us and Gainsborough also defeated us in the league too. We had the FA Cup qualifying round two too against Skrill North rivals Guiseley, they also thrashed us but the 1-0 scoreline was lucky on us really because they could not hit the target.

We did get two victories too this month, we beat Stockport 1-0 with Peter Till getting on the scoresheet and also beat Solihull Moors 2-0 with Smith and an Owen penalty gave us three points.

Brakes 0-2 Altrincham

Stockport 0-1 Brakes

Till (87)

Brakes 2-0 Solihull Moors

Smith (60)
Owen (pen 89)

Brakes 0-1 Gainsborough

F.A Cup Second Qualifying Round

Guiseley 1-0 Brakes

League Table

So we have dropped outside of the playoff places, but there are two points covering the top 6. Telford are looking strong again this season after being relegated last season.

Upcoming fixtures

There are a lot of mid table clashes this month and to realistically want promotion we need to not lose any of these matches.
