We all know that Football Manager is the most realistic football management simulation there is. But there are things we want to be in control that go beyond the scope of a real football head coach.
Things like deciding how the kits should look like every new season, what the ticket price could be, what kind of facility upgrades to invest in, more flexibility in managing finances, being able to invest our salary as manager, and so on.
So the question is what do you want from Football Manager? More realism or more fun?
Would you feel more engaged to the game if you could have control over things a real manager isn't really involved with?
I think there should be a thing at the start of every save where the player is asked what Realism level he/she wants to play at.
Everything you mentioned there I would like added to the game, it makes it more enjoyable! Also with FM Handheld you can create your own team in game! I know you can do this with the editor but it would be cool if it was actually in the game!
I also think when you get stadium expansions you should be able to choose which stands get upgraded, and to the capacity you want it!
When it comes to actually playing games I would love more realism, obviously I would like the game engine to look better and run a lot smoother, and the players to act less robot like (This is most likely asking too much) but I'd also like things to be improved upon.
For instance a few times every other game you get a throw in and your players or the CPU's players throws it straight to the opposition, almost as if they were meant to! (Not sure if this is a bug, but it just doesn't happen irl)
As you mentioned before, I'd love to be able to invest my wages into something.
On one hand I think if they went down that route it would make for a more diverse game, but on the other hand it seems like a can of worms, if we get everything for every title that goes beyond being a football manager then surely the game is something else.
I am one of the few I guess that prefer it to be around the job of football manager, primarily because there is a realism in the game as it is, which allows people to make a connection from reality to the the game easier. If that makes sense
I reckon both ,more realism and more fun and like the dude said above ,it should allow you to select realism levels to your preference .
A balance between the 2 needs to be struck ,leaving or giving preference to 1 side will not do justice .
Maybe all those extras you mentioned should be placed under staff responsibilities and that way as the manager one can select whether you staff do it or you .
