Before anyone chips in with Man Utd, Barca, Real Madrid, Chelsea etc, etc...
I am looking to start a new career, and want an averagely good team, I would like a decent amount of cash for transfers with a fairl decent reputation to attract fairly good players.
I don't want to pick Man City..
Would like either English or Italian teams ideally, but am open to all suggestions.

arsenal, liverpool etc i would put these in the category with man u..
i know wat u mean for example in fm 08 Man City before the money was a great team to take over they had about 10 mill to spend, and averagely good squad and the expectations was only to reach 14th which is great for a starting manager and i would finish 8th+ after my first season without putting much effort into the tactic side
got to admit though, the last month or so iv been looking for tht so called team in fm 09 and am struggling my only suggestion so far would be sunderland but the transfer budget after asking for more is 11 mill
napoli or fiorentina.
both have good young squads and have good transfer budjets too.
Go East Stirling , classy squad :-) . Maybe try Nottm Forest , Southampton , Cardiff.

They have too much money, lol.
It makes it too easy to get decent players.
It isn't a challenge really, i'm after mid-low prem/serie a teams with the ability to take to the top.
I played 5 seasons as Real Madrid and just got bored of winning everything and being able to sign whoever i wanted..
yeah but there rep is 6905 the best player who is interested is roque santa cruz cahil and arteta
Griff is right go with fiorentina to they have some really classy young players as well as some good experienced players
i suggest saktar ... bad leage...easy to get cups .. much money... lol wages...but...u have to make a good carreer in europe ...to get in a better club

valencia in spain.your money is your player.buy player from lower league or nations like ukraina, romania, denmark, eastern europe i think you can buy young player with not much money and south amerika i think. if you can cut real madrid and barca domination i think you better than koeman .....:ave:ave
