Balanta and Dória sign for Barcelona

Today FC Barcelona announced two new signings.

Éder Alvarez Balanta is an argentinean centre back who joins Barca from River Plate. The transfer sum is reported to be about £10m. Balanta has signed a contract that experies 2018 worth £30k per week. Balanta left a short comment to the media.

I´m really happy to join Barca, they are the best club in the world and it´s really inspiring to be here.

Dória is a brazilian centre back who joins Barca from Botafogo but he´ll return to Botafogo on loan for the rest of the season. Dória has signed a contract that experies 2018, worth about £20k a week. The transfer sum is reported to be about £9m. Dória left a short comment aswell.

This is a great move for me and my carrer. I´m very happy. Now I´ll play many matches home in Brazil and then return ready for Barca with even more experience next season.

The manager Roberto Martinez commented the signings:

This is two great deals. We´ve secured two future world class defenders for about £20m. I´m sure that Balata will be great this season and that Dória will gain play time in Brazil and comeback and be great next season.

But signings can also lead to departures. BBC Sport sources says that Javier Mascherano has been in talks with the english side Manchester City.

He´s a Barcelona player at the moment, that´s all I have to say, answered Martinez when we asked him.

Champions League group stage draw

August was a great month for us. We won our two first liga games and secured the Super Cup over two matches against Atletico de Madrid. It´s was great to take our first trophy. Hopefully there will be more of them.
