Moyes Returns To Management

After an unhappy spell with Manchester United David Moyes has returned to management at Tottenham. Daniel Levy made it clear that Tim Sherwood was not going to be manager at the start of the season and has found his replacement. Tim Sherwood has agreed to leave the club and is now on the look for a new job.

Tottenham have struggled to replace Harry Redknapp as manager after he introduced the North London club to the champions league. Andre Villas Boas replaced the Englishman but failed to lead the club into Europe's elite competition so was replaced with Sherwood. Levy has defended his decision to appoint Moyes despite failing at Manchester United and believes the Scot can become a managerial great and transform Spurs into a Champions League team.

At the moment David Moyes is expected to hold his first press conference as Spurs boss in a few days time. After his sacking from United Moyes was backed by many of the Premier League managers as they felt the way he was sacked by United was poor. Moyes has thanked Manchester United for giving him the chance to manage such a big club, but now he must focus on life at Spurs.

Moyes Meets The Press

Today Tottenham welcomed their new manager David Moyes as he held his first press conference as Spurs manager at the clubs stadium White Hart Lane.

Joe Eckersley(Radio 5 Live) "Firstly David I wish you all the best as Tottenham manager. Do you think your ambitions are matched by Daniel Levy"
DM "Thank you Joe, I have no doubt that Daniel has the club's best interests at heart and the fans are lucky to have such an ambitious chairman running the club"

Ian Keen(London Evening Standard) "Do you feel you can match the expectations of the chairman"
DM "Yes, I'm vey happy with the direction the club is moving and everybody at the club believes we can become a Champions League team"

Bryan Swanson(Sky Sports) "Are you looking to strengthen in any areas of the team, rumours are linking you with Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao"
DM "Well we are looking to bring in cover for defence and we have been looking at Coentrao and hopefully a deal can be done for him to come to Spurs"

2 In, 1 Out
David Moyes has wasted no time in creating his own Tottenham side and has already overseen three deals. The first of these deals was the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Portuguese side Porto for a fee of £7 million pounds. The Icelandic internationalist has found it difficult at White Hart Lane to secure a first team place in the side. Sigurdsson joined Spurs in 2012, signing from Hoffenheim after a successful loan spell with Swansea.

Moyes captured Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao for £7.5 million after he planned to strengthen the defence of his Tottenham side. Tottenham beat the likes of Chelsea and fierce rivals Arsenal to the signing of Bartra. The Portuguese full back signed for Madrid from Benfica back in 2011 but has struggled to make an impact as he was second choice to Marcelo. The left back position is one which Tottenham were desperate to improve, only having Danny Rose in their squad.

Marc Bartra was the next to arrive at White Hart Lane after completing a £14 million deal which saw Bartra sign a 4 year deal with the London club. The now former Barcelona centre back broke into the side last season after injury hit both Puyol and Pique. The Spaniard is very comfortable with the ball and can play the ball out of defence and is only 22 years old and has many years to mature into a strong centre back for Spurs
Good luck

Moyes-"We Performed Well"

Tottenham train before the start of the season at the weekend

David Moyes and his squad are preparing for the start of the season on Sunday as they travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal. David Moyes has been pleased with sides performances during pre-season and hopes to continue the level of performance into the season. Daniel Levy has publicly announced that David Moyes will have time to create the squad he wants and Europa League qualification is the target for the season and anything else would be a bonus.

During pre-season Moyes played an attractive style of football and Spurs kept the ball well during their four games. Tottenham were unbeaten during the four games, winning twice and drawing twice. Tottenham's first game under Moyes' management was against Italian side Udinese at White Hart Lane. The visitors started well and found themselves 1 up after 6 minutes when Luis Muriel slipped the ball past Brad Friedal. Emanuel Adebayor headed home the equaliser 20 minutes before the end. Spurs then travelled to Spain to play Zaragoza. Nacer Chadli scored his first goal for Spurs but Zaragoza responded quickly and two goals from Angelo Henriquez put the Spanish side ahead. Erik Lamela also got his first goal for Spurs to secure another draw for Moyes and remain unbeaten.

Tottenham then played Turkish side Kayserispor and was their poorest performance of pre-season. Spurs failed to convert the little chances they created and Kayserispor looked dangerous on the counter. Tottenham finally got the breakthrough when Marko Simic put the ball into his own net. Spurs welcomed Serie A outfit Fiorentina to White Hart Lane. Tottenham played a youthful side and found themselves two to the good after 10 minutes. Andros Townsend shot was deflected in after three minutes before striker Harry Kane slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Fiorentina scored a consolation goal in the final seconds of the game through Allesandro Matri.

August Review

David Moyes has complted his first month as our new manager and here is a summary of August and the results.

Arsenal(a)

First up this month was a trip across North London to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. After an unbeaten pre-season Spurs arrived in a confident mood to take all three points from their rivals, and that is exactly what the visitors did. 60,000 supporters filled the Emirates to watch the first game of the 2013/14 season. Arsenal suffered a huge blow after 6 minutes as Santi Cazorla had to be substituted after a heavy tackle from Jan Vertonghen. On the 30th minute Roberto Soldado broke through the Arsenal defence and chipped the advancing Szczesny to put Spurs 1-0 ahead. The second half was poor as neither team were able to create chances in front of goal. Tottenham headed home with all three points.

Crystal Palace(h)

Tottenham fans had their first chance to see new manager David Moyes as Spurs welcomed Premier League new comers to White Hart Lane. Tottenham started brightly and missed two great chances that fell to striker Roberto Soldado. Tottenham rued these missed chances as Vertonghen put the ball past Hugo Lloris giving the visitors the lead against the run of play. Palace came out after the interval with a clear game plan, to keep behind the ball and frustrate Spurs. Tottenham created numerous chances before Soldado double his goal tally for Spurs with a thunderous header. Despite their complete domination Spurs only managed to leave with one point.

After these two game we find ourselves 6th in the table with a trip to Cardiff next up in the League.

St. Gallen(h)

Tottenham were drawn against FC St. Gallen in the play off of the Europa League. The first leg was at White Hart Lane and was a game Spurs controlled from the outset. Soldado got the break through 13 minutes into the game and opened the flood gates for Spurs. Vertonghen doubled the lead from an excellent free kick before Lamela made it 3 before half time. Five minutes into the second half Andros Townsend got the fourth of the night. Danny Rose made it five before an own goal from Besle secured a 6-0 victory for Spurs.

St. Gllen(a)

The second leg was just as easy for Spurs and once again took the lead early as Paulinho got his first goal for Spurs. Townsend got his second of the tie. Lamela also got his second of the tie to complete a 9-0 aggregate win for David Moyes' men.

Tottenham were drawn in group J with Red Bul Salzburg, Bursaspor and Maribor and will be looking to advance to the last 32 comfortably.
