Hi there, currently in the early stages of my second season with Manchester United on FM14 and thought I'd share my story to date. First season actually went extremely well with the lifting of an unlikely cup...

Season 1
EPL: 4th
UCL: WINNERS
FA Cup: 6th Round (L 0-2 Southampton)
Capital 1: 4th Round (L 0-1 Newcastle)

Champions League:[/i] Unbelievable season winning the UCL with some really unlikely results. Qualified from my group including Atletico (2nd), Steaua (3rd) & Zenit (4th) with 15 points, my only loss coming at Old Trafford to Atletico. Was quite unfortunate to be paired with Juventus in the last 16 but after a 4-3 win in Italy, a goalless draw at OT was enough.

Man City in the final 8, going into the 2nd leg a goal down from the Etihad, found myself 4-0 up at half-time. A late 5th goal and no reply from City saw us through to the semis. Real Madrid awaited us and it went all the way to penalties as both sides managed 1-0 away wins in each leg. Equally amazing, Marseille were the team awaiting us in Lisbon for the final overcoming Porto, Atletico and Dortmund in the semis. Rooney & Januzaj with first half goals gave us the trophy.

EPL: Mourinho returned to Chelsea and won the EPL at his first chance (With Robin Van Persie scoring a few). Everton unbelievably took 2nd with Arsenal finishing ahead of us in 4th. Only 4 points between 1st and Man City in 5th, they're looking forward to Europa League away days to FC Midtjyland this season.

Crashed out of both domestic cups fairly quickly but I had to prioritise tournaments due to the small size of my squad.

Season 2 Squad

GK: De Gea, Lindegaard, Eduardo.
DF: Smalling, Jones, Shaw (30m), Dante (6m), Evans, Denswil (3m), J. Silva (5m), Peruzzi (21.5m).
MD: Carrick, Schniderlin (9m), Felliani, Shaqiri (15m), Mata, Januzaj, Kagawa, Zaha.
ST: Rooney, Welbeck, Batshauyi (6.5m), Henriquez.

Noteable Loaned Out:

Matthias Ginter (Freiburg), Will Hughes (Norwich), Nick Powell (QPR), Ryan Gauld (Celtic), Richairo Zivkovic (FC Goringen), Christian Atsu (FC Twente)

Want to take on the Chelsea model of having a lot of capable players out on loan that I can rely on. Ginter (11m) and Zivkovic (7.5m) loaned back to respective clubs after purchase. Atsu (Free) gone to my affiliate Twente. Gauld (4.5m), Hughes (5.25m) and Powell all playing first team football at a high standard.

Starting XI (4-3-2-1): De Gea, Shaw, Dante, Jones, Peruzzi, Schniderlin, Shaqiri, Kagawa, Mata, Januzaj, Rooney.
Congratulations on winning the Champions League! As a United fan, I am very happy with your starting XI ;).

Interesting start too, looking forward to seeing how you progress.

Thanks!

I think my next move after this season will be to bring in a world-class, battling Central Midfielder, with Ginter coming back I only envisage 1/2 maximum first team signings in the next two seasons.

Noteable sells over the past 18 months also are (1st season): RVP (30m to Chelsea), Hernandez (20m to PSG), Cleverley (11m to Monaco) and (2nd season) Rafael (38m to Madrid), Valencia (9m to Atletico), Nani (4.5m to PSG). My net spend over the 3 transfer windows I've been in charge is only 15m, but a squad transformation was required.

Just drawed FCP, Gladbach and Ajax in a tough UCL group.
Good luck! Good to see you lift the UCL as a United fan :D
Also, my team on FIFA14 in the second season looked uncannily similar to yours :P (sorry off topic)

Hope you win loads more in the future! GGMU :D
