Ryan Joseph Giggs, OBE(born Ryan Joseph Wilson; 29 November 1973) is an ex Welsh professional footballer. He is also the son of former Rugby League player Danny Wilson. Giggs made his first appearance for the club during the 1990–91 season and has been a regular player since the 1991–92 season. He established himself as a left winger during the 1990s, and continued in this position well into the 2000s, though he has been increasingly used in a deeper playmaking role in his later years. Giggs is known for his tireless running, ball possession and ability to create goalscoring opportunities for those around him.
Giggs is the most decorated player in English football history. He also holds the club record for competitive appearances. During his time at United, he has won 13 Premier League winner's medals, four FA Cup winner's medals, three League Cup winner's medals and two Champions League winner's medals. He has two runner-up medals from the Champions League, three FA Cup finals and two League Cup finals, as well as being part of the team five times when it finished second in the Premier League. In recent years, Giggs has captained the team on numerous occasions, particularly in the 2007–08 season when regular captain Gary Neville was ruled out with various injuries.
Giggs has a number of personal achievements. He was the first player in history to win two consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year awards (1992 and 1993), though he did not win the PFA Player of the Year award until 2009. He is the only player to have played and scored in every season of the Premier League. He is the only remaining player in the Premier League who played in the old First Division. He was elected into the PFA Team of the Century in 2007, the Premier League Team of the Decade in 2003, as well as the FA Cup Team of the Century. Giggs holds the record for the most assists in Premier League history, with 271.

Giggs was named one of the three overaged players for the Great Britain team to compete at 2012 Summer Olympics, and was subsequently named as the team's captain.

The Wales national football team represents Wales in international football. It is controlled by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), the governing body for football in Wales and the third-oldest national football association in the world. The team have only qualified for a major international tournament once in their history, when Wales qualified for the 1958 FIFA World Cup. However, Wales did progress through UEFA Euro 1976 qualifying to the quarter-final, which was played on a home and away leg basis.
Although part of the United Kingdom, Wales has always had a representative side that plays in all the major professional tournaments, though not in the Olympic Games, as the IOC has always recognised United Kingdom representative sides.
Wales play their home games at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff and wear A Red Home Kit and A Green and White Away kit as depicted in the pictures below.
Wales Manager Ryan Giggs has been dealt a major blow for the upcoming friendly against World and European Champions Spain with Gareth Bale pulling out of this game with a damaged foot. Recently appointed Giggs who last week admitted Wales have no chance of Qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil 2014 looks to be using his first squad as a base to breed in new players with no less the 8 uncapped players named in the 23 man squad, led by Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow who Giggs has persuaded to switch allegiances from neighboring rivals England.

With all 23 players not playing in the Welsh League critics suggest that the decision to select a squad of foreign-based players could have negative ramifications for the Welsh domestic divisions.
Wednesday 14 August 2013 - Kick Off: 15:00 Wales 6 vs 3 Spain International Friendly Attendance:21,667
On a hot summers night in Cardiff last night wales turned on the style in Ryan Giggs' first game in charge of his national team as Wales hosted Spain in what many considered was going to be a one sided affair with Spanish expected to dominate from start to finish.
Things did not start well for Giggs's boys when loose marking allowed Spanish defender Alberto Moreno to put his head on the end of a Jesus Navas Corner to put the visiting nation ahead. But Wales did not crumple or hide in their shells and attacked back with Criag Bellamy hitting the post straight after the re-start.
In the 15th minute debutant Sanchez Watt mugged Cesar Azpilicueta to calmly slot the ball past Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes to equalize for the small British nation.

the match was end to end for the next 20 minutes until a mistake from Gerard Pique allowed Craig Bellamy to score his first goal of the night. Things got worse for the World Champions when Bellamy broke the offside trap in the 43rd minute to put Wales into a commanding 3-1 lead.

Spain looked angry and instantly the Barcelona trio of Pedro, Iniesta and Xavi made the Welsh midfield look like a pub to with some "tika taka" passing ti make space for Alberto Moreno to nab his 2nd goal of the night.

Half Time and the welsh could not believe their luck 3-2 up and expected to "park the bus" in the second half.
The second half started as the first half ended with Spanish on top until David Edwards of Wolves stole the ball in midfield to release Vice Captain Aaron Ramsey through on goal to make it 4-2.
Aaron Ramsey
Spain continued to dominate the ball in midfield until they finally broke through in the 71st minute with recently transfered to Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alacantara unleashed an amazing 35 yard screamer past keeper Karl Darlow.

Spain then went full on attack to try and get the equalizer when substitute Robert Earnshaw used his pace to out-sprint defender Marc Bartra to get on the end of a mis-palce backpass from Azpilicueta to make it 5-3 in the 84th minute.

The game was all over in the 88th minute when yet another mis-placed back pass this time from Alberto Moreno gave the Welsh a corner James Collins rose the highest to make it 6-3.
No-one gave the Welsh minnows a chance but Ryan Giggs seems to have purchased 2/3 rabbit feet to have played against such a poor Spanish side or just his presence to inspire this famous victory. Will this continue or was it just plain luck

Ryan Giggs Names the same squad as the previous friendly against Spain for the qualifiers against Croatia and Belgium respectively with Gareth Bale still out injured.
Friday 6 September 2013 - Kick Off: 19:30 Croatia 1 vs 2 Wales World Cup 14 Qualifier Attendance:34,448
Wales Travelled to Croatia to play in a qualifying match for World Cup 2014 in Brazil. It was a blistering 25 degrees and the Welsh would go into the match on the back of an amazing victory against the Spanish.
The match started with the Croats on the front foot until the 6th minute when Aaron Ramsey brought down former Arsenal team-mate Eduardo Silva with Ivan Rakitic calmly slotting the penalty past goalkeeper Wayne Hennesey.
Wales were soon back in the game in the 9th minute when winger Sanchez Watt fired a speculative shot which hit the crossbar and came back and hit keeper Danijel Subasic on the back of his head and into his own net.
A Deflated Subasic
The match remained sketchy and a tight affair with the ball just being passed around tentatively in the middle of the park with nothing of any note happening until Robert Earnshaw broke free a loose pass from Vedran Corluka and was up by the same trying to recover his mistake. Centre Half James Collins slammed the resulting penalty into the top left corner.

Friday 6 September 2013 - Kick Off: 19:30 Wales 0 vs 1 Belgium World Cup 14 Qualifier Attendance:20,750
Belgium were hot favourites in this match and were expected to dominate the Welsh into an easy submission. and this looked to be the case when Marouanne Feillaini headed the Belgians into an early lead in the 8th minute.
Feillaini and Ramsey battle it out
Wales tried to come back in what was fruitless task as the Belgians just held tight and saw the game out 1-0 a late booking for Jack Collison was the only other activity in this match.
With The Result it still leave Wales languishing at the bottom of Group 1 with no chance of qualifying many say had Giggs been in charge before they may have held a more respectable position fighting it out with Scotland for 3rd.
