The Beginning.
I sat in my seat on the balcony at the hotel restaurant gazing over the English Channel. I get ready to leave, the wind whistles and a newspaper page floated on to the table in front of me. I pick it up to read and use all the French skills I gained from my late mother.

USL Dunkerque manager resigns
After leading the club to the Championnat National the Dunkerque manager left the club saying that he is ‘looking for a new challenge as he feels that the club can’t meet the expectations’ that he holds. Dunkerque are said to be saddened by his departure and feel insulted by the language that their ex manager used to describe the club. The club have announced that they will have open interviews at the club grounds at 2:00 pm today. Anybody is welcome even if they have no previous footballing experience.
My heart accelerated and I dropped the paper onto the floor. It was 1:30 so I rushed to the nearby bus station, sprinting along the promenade past bewildered tourists. I hopped on the bus quickly paying for the fare and praying for us to not stop all the way. I jumped out at 2:20 dashed into the grounds of the club, I thought I had missed my chance as no one sat where the boards told them to wait but just as I arrived the chairman came out.
Chairman: Hello, what is your name.
Me: I’m Michael Jameson.
Chairman: Ok then, if you would like to come through we will start the interview.
(We head through the door)
Chairman: Ok do you have any footballing experience.
Me: I played for the Donegal Celtic Youth team when I was 16 but didn’t get a professional contract.
Chairman: Good and have you had any further involvements in football.
Me: I studied physiotherapy at Sheffield University and worked as a Physio at several lower league Irish clubs.
Chairman: Ok Mr Jameson I feel you are a good candidate I will call you to inform you on my decision after consulting the rest of the board.
Me: Thank you very much.
(I leave the room)
I knew then my story was just beginning.
