Moyes finally sacked – but who’s his replacement?

David Moyes has been removed from his position as Manchester United manager.

The sacking comes as a result of his poor first season as United boss, especially his appalling home record.

Moyes has never been the fan's favourite, with some fans never liking him from the start. #MoyesOut has trended on Twitter a number of times this season.

His potential replacements are considered to be the following:
Louis van Gaal 2/1
Jürgen Klopp 5/1
Ryan Giggs 10/1
Sir Alex Ferguson 20/1

Van Gaal named as new United boss

Louis van Gaal has been named as the new Manchester United manager.

The appointment comes after old boss David Moyes was sacked following United’s worst ever Premier League campaign.

Van Gaal released a statement exclusively to Sky Sports regarding his appointment:
“I am pleased to announce myself as the new Manchester United manager. It is a wonderful opportunity to challenge myself and possibly a great way to end off my career. I promise to the fans I will achieve big things here.”

It is rumoured that van Gaal has been given a big transfer kitty to start off the rebuild of one of the world’s greatest teams.

Lars and Jetro jet off to Manchester

Louis van Gaal has made his two first signings as Manchester United boss, picking up young left-back Jetro Willems and central midfielder Lars Bender for a combined £30m.

Jetro Willems was signed from PSV for a cool £10.5m. Willems arrived from Eindhoven last night to complete the signing. He will be sent back to PSV to complete the season in Holland, then he will join up with his new teammates in Manchester.

Lars Bender was snatched from Bayer Leverkusen for an initial sum of £10.5m up front, then £9m over 2 years. He will be a key part of United’s team this season, as the German can slot in perfectly next to Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley or Marouane Fellaini at Louis van Gaal’s wish.

Van Gaal has released this statement about his two big-money signings:
“I am delighted to welcome Lars and Jetro to the club. They are a big part of my plans and I know they will do well for me.”

Hernandez off to sunny Spain

Javier Hernandez has been picked up by F.C Barcelona for a big sum of £17m. The striker has said in the past that he would like to get some game time and this move is huge for both him and the Spaniards.

Louis van Gaal would surely be delighted by making a huge profit on Hernandez, who was signed by United in 2010 for a reported £7m.

Chicharito is said to be pleased by the move, saying he would now like to finally get some game time under his belt.

It remains to be seen whether van Gaal will bring in a replacement for the Mexican goal-poacher or if he will stick to his 3 main guns in Wayne rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck.

Community Shield - Live!

MT: Hello one and all, and welcome to this year’s exciting edition of the Community Shield! I’m Martin Tyler and I’m joined by my colleague, Gary Neville.
GN: Hi Martin, it’s great to be here watching this match today.
MT: Thanks Gary, the two teams involved in this match today are Manchester United and Wigan Athletic. Manchester United, of course, are competing today because they won the league last season, it was a memorable season wasn’t it Gary?
GN: Yeah, it truly was, United finally reached twenty league titles and some spectacular goals were scored that season, I remember watching Robin van Persie’s screamer against Villa in the commentary box and just being blown away.
MT: And what do you make of the new boss, Mr. Louis van Gaal?
GN: Yeah, he’s an experienced manager, been at loads of top clubs around Europe, he knows the game inside out. The guy’s a genius, he knows how to get the best out of his players, and if you don’t perform your best for him, he’s not gonna be very ‘appy, that’s for sure (Laughs)! No, but in all fairness, the guy’s a top bloke.
MT: And moving on to Wigan, a sulky season was shrouded by a moment of magic as the Latics got relegated, then beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup!
GN: Oh, great win for Wigan. Right at the death, Watson wins it, Latics fans go mental. It was a historic night for them and the club.
MT: Well, let’s move on to today’s game, let’s have a look at the starting line-ups:

Manchester United: 4-3-3 Defensive Midfielder
GK: David de Gea
RB: Rafael
CB: Phil Jones
CB: Nemanja Vidic
LB: Patrice Evra
DM: Marouane Fellaini
CM: Lars Bender
CM: Michael Carrick
LW: Juan Mata
RW: Antonio Valencia
CF: Wayne Rooney

MT: A very strong lineup from van Gaal today, looks like he really wants to win his first piece of silverware!
GN: Yeah, he’s got a very solid back line, with Fellaini as added protection. The new man Lars Bender making his debut today, he’ll really want to win this match and get his first piece of silverware as a United player. Rooney looks like he will drop back and help with the midfield, maybe spread the ball wide along with Michael Carrick.
MT: And lets look at the Wigan lineup:

Wigan Athletic: 4-4-2 Diamond
GK: Carson
RB: Perch
CB: Holgersson
CB: Barnett
LB: Crainey
DM: McArthur
LM: McClean
RM: Maloney
AM: Gomez
ST: Maynard
ST: McKay

MT: And the teams are heading out of the tunnel, Wigan and United both looking strong, who will win? Will it be as epic as we all want it to be? Find out,in the next post!
