Welcome to my latest story, which I am confident will last longer than, say, a few weeks. :P I am actually (and very surprisingly) a season into this save already, and I will have pre-written some updates ready for this story to get up and running. I do hope you enjoy it, because with the right amount of support, I think this can be my best story to date. Some of you are probably thinking - an Alex story, that won't last for longer than a week, surely? But I will do my best to ensure that this story continues and is my best to date.

Why have I chosen Ajax? I asked people on GC for some interesting leagues to play in, and looking beyond the suggestions of the SuperLig and Romanian League, a few people recommended the Eredivisie. I didn't see a reason why not to start a save with Ajax, the current champions of Eredivisie, and a club some could definitely see as a "fallen giant". They have a fantastic squad, fantastic youth and quite a decent budget for a few squad-strengthening signings. For this story, I won't be faffing about with manager changes, I am going to be current manager (and favourite for the Spurs job) Frank de Boer.

For this save, and story, my aims for Ajax are to do the following:
- Become the Eredivisie invincibles
- Win the Dutch Cup
- Win the Europa League
- Win the Champions League
- Win the Club World Championships

I will do writing based updates for two reasons - 1. My Photoshop is too unreliable to make graphics when I want it to, and 2. I honestly enjoy writing the updates instead of making the graphics, because the months change the amount of fixtures so a monthly update template would be too annoying to make, and making the same graphics for every few updates would eventually make things boring for me. I'm still putting in the exact same amount of effort, it's just put into writing form, like Aaron's or Neal's. The writing style is slightly based off of theirs, but only because those two styles are my favourite to read.

I hope you will follow and enjoy this story, even though I'm not the best of writers. :)

Ajax A Guilty pleasure of mine since 1995 will follow with interest
Nice start, love your banner! :)
Great start, and a lovely banner :)
sponge11rofc: Thanks mate :)
Josh_MU: Thanks, it took me 5 minutes on a broken Photoshop. 5 minutes well spent.

DE BOER'S SQUAD OVERVIEW

Of course, I haven't just joined Ajax, but at the start of every season, I feel it is necessary to have a look at the squad, to see where it needs strengthening and where I am confident in. I probably won't need to make many signings into this fantastic squad, nor will many have to leave, but I'm sure that it won't do any harm to take a look at the Ajax team.

Goalkeepers

An impressive three goalkeepers - with Vermeer and Cillessen set to fight each other for the spot in the starting XI. Van der Hart may start in cup games or if either Vermeer or Cillessen are injured, but at 19, he probably doesn't expect much first team football at the club this season. In a few seasons, however, he could be a star Eredivisie goalkeeper, which is why he's in the first team just in case.

Left Backs

Nicolai Boilesen is a fantastic left back, but he will need some back-up, or even someone to start ahead of him, just because one left back isn't enough for a squad. 22 year old Boilesen still hasn't hit his peak, and until he has, I would like someone with more experience, but Boilesen will become a star in the near future. I will start searching for a left back within the next few days, and won't stop until I've found the perfect left back for the squad.

Centre Backs

All four centre backs are going to be incredible in the future, but only vice-captain Niklas Moisander has reached his full potential. What I will probably do is rotate Moisander, Veltman and Denswil for the first few games and then play whoever has the highest average rating - although I will never doubt van der Hoorn, who could break into the first team this season, and if not this season, it could definitely happen next season.

Right Backs

While Ruben Ligeon is set to be a star in the future, Ricardo van Rhijn is a star now, and can improve significantly in the future. There is no doubt over who I am starting this season, as van Rhijn is simply too good not to start. If I have any doubts over the 22 year old's fitness, Ligeon will start for a game or two, as he is not a bad player at all.

Central/Defensive Midfielders

As I intend to play a 4-5-1 formation, I am obviously playing 3 central midfielders each game. There is no doubt over me starting Daley Blind, who is a fantastic player at just 24 years old. Then, it is between Lerin Duarte, who I will sometimes play on the left wing, Christian Poulsen, who will add experience to the first team, Thulani Serero, who I believe will add creativity to the midfield, and Stanislav Lobotka, who definitely has some potential. The probable two choices are going to be Christian Poulsen and Thulani Serero, with Lerin Duarte playing back-up in left wing, although that could definitely change.

Left Wingers

As I said before, Lerin Duarte will play back-up in left wing, although the two choices available now aren't to be laughed at. Viktor Fischer is one of our strongest players, and will definitely start ahead of Tobias Sana, who just isn't on the same level. Sana will probably start in cup games or when Fischer is injured, although that spot might just go to Duarte.

Attacking Midfielders

I don't use attacking midfielders, so Klaassen seems pretty useless to me. I will sadly listen to any offers made for him, and I could make a load of money out of a player who is no real use to me at all. Either that, or I train him to play on the right wing, because I honestly don't want to lose a talent like him.

Right Wingers

Two Danish right wingers who don't actually play as right wingers. Fantastic. Andersen and Schone normally play in attacking midfield, but as mentioned before, I don't use attacking midfielders. I will rotate both Andersen and Schone each game depending on who I think will do better in that position against that certain opponent.

Strikers

Three top class strikers. Siem de Jong will take the first team position up front, with Bojan perhaps moving to the wings or becoming a first team striker when de Jong is injured. Then, if Bojan plays on the wing and de Jong is injured, Kolbeinn Sigporsson will take the lead up front. I don't need to buy another striker, because the three I have are fantastic.

So, an incredible squad for an Eredivisie side, I feel we have a fantastic chance at becoming the invincibles this season, even though that will be easier said than done. I know that, within a few seasons, our squad will be challenging to win the UEFA Champions League, which would be fantastic to accomplish.
