Woah, that's a great month mate. Keep up this form and you're onto a winner!

October 2013: The Hard Work

My Thoughts: This month was all about the strikers; as the team moves forward into the first round proper of the FA Cup, and hold tight to our lead at the top of the Skrill North, 4 goals in 5 games from Steven Tames gave the fans something to shout about. In the 1st round proper, we were drawn against League One side Crewe, and many fans may see this as the end of the line; i’m viewing it as a money-spinner - welcoming a league one side to Bower Fold is only going to generate some cash for us, and cash never goes wrong. The FA Trophy draw on the other hand, was favourable; drawing us against Sheffield...not United, and not Wednesday, just Sheffield. Once again we’re drawn at home for that game, so more cup-game cash coming in to help the club’s coffers.

October Results

Oxford City 0-0 Stalybridge Celtic

Joel Bembo-Leta
Dropping those two points was tough to take, but was still only a blip; the guys should be able to pick themselves up quickly to continue our campaign.

King’s Lyn 3-4 Stalybridge Celtic

Alec Mudimu (4)
Dan Hart (16)
Steven Tames (26)
Chinedu Vine (59)
Dan Hart
Dan Hart was definitely Captain Fantastic in this game, scoring one and creating the other 3, as we fought hard to progress in the FA Cup. a great result, and a testament to the character within the squad.

Stalybridge Celtic 0-2 Vauxhall Motors

A Tough loss for us to take; but if this can remain one of few defeats over the season, we’ll be doing well.

Leamington 2-3 Stalybridge Celtic

Chinedu Vine (16)
Steven Tames (30, 34)
Chinedu Vine
Another tight game, but we did well to come back to hold on and win it. Steven Tames continued his good form, scoring twice, while Chinedu Vine set up 2 and scored 1, as our strikers continued to dominate.

Rushall 0-1 Stalybridge Celtic

Steven Tames (34)
Steven Tames
Another tough game, but 3 points is 3 points no matter how they’re won, and Steven Tames was once again a joy to watch as we pushed through to the first round proper of the FA Cup.

Barrow 0-1 Stalybridge Celtic

Sean McConville (51)
Callum Warburton
Again, a narrow win, but a well-deserved one. We’re grinding out results, and it was great to see Sean score again, having spent 8 games without a goal. With all our strikers in scoring form, we’re feeling confident, and that is tangible throughout the side.

Competition Standings

Skrill North: 1st (32PTS)
FA Trophy: 3rd Qualifying Round (Sheffield)
FA Cup: 1st Round (Crewe)
