Francesco Totti was today announced as Roma's new manager as Rudi Garcia left for personal reasons. Due to the lack of time between the departure of the manager and the start of the season, the President James Pallotta decided to give thirty-six year old Totti the job.

Totti, who has two years left on his player contract has been at the club since 1993 and is the clubs most capped player and largest goal scorer in the club's history. And it is this admirable devotion to the club that has perhaps earned him his first managerial role. He holds the record for having won 11 Oscar del calcio AIC, including five Italian Footballer of the Year awards, two Serie A Footballer of the Year awards, two Serie A goal of the year awards, one Serie A Goalscorer of the Year award and one Serie A Young Footballer of the Year award.

The forward also enjoyed an international career for Italy, earning fifty-eight caps and scoring nine goals.

"Sono molto orgoglioso di essere stato offerta la possibilità di gestire il club tengo tanto amore per. Farò del mio meglio per non alla tartara l'eredità che ho creato per me e per il mio club già. Grazie per il vostro continuo supporto." (I am very proud to have been offered the opportunity to manage the club I hold so much love for. I will try my hardest not to tarter the legacy I have created for both myself and my club already. Thank you for your continued support.)

Pundits around the world are backing Totti as perhaps being able to push Roma towards their first Serie A title lift since 2000-2001, as he will be able to captain the team both on and off the pitch.
Good luck mate!
Good luck, mate. I also have a Roma story with Totti as player-manager, lol...
I didn't realise! However, I'm making him step down once his contract runs out and try to put him as an ass-man.

PELLEGRINI IN DOUBLE SWOOP

Manchester City have surprised the market with two purchases from Roma.

Manchester City have surprised reporters with a double swoop for two Roma players, one of which had only recently departed. The club, who have sold some of their fullbacks decided they would like to re-acquire Maicon as support, and also purchased Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis who had also only recently joined the side.

The acceptance of these bids came as a shock to fans, but it shows the kind of regime that player manager Francesco Totti is attemtping to run, by getting rid of older players with wages that are too high for their skill levels.

Reports are that Totti is in the market for a replacement goalkeeper for the 2014-15 season rather than a replacement for the current season as he is willing to let Bogdan Lobont take the number one jersey for this season. Lobont, who has been at the club since 2010 will probably play his last couple of seasons at the club, but Totti has expressed interest in a number of European goalkeepers that are of the younger persuasion.

Maicon signed for a reported €6,000,000 and De Sanctis for an undisclosed fee thought to be around €2,000,000. These early, and relatively cheap signings for Manchester City offer the type of game they will be playing in the market this year.

Francesco Totti offered his thanks to the players departing.

"Spero che entrambi i giocatori fanno bene al Manchester City, apprezzo tutto il lavoro fatto per il club da entrambi e auguro loro buona fortuna." -- (I hope both players do well at Manchester City, I appreciate any work done for the club by both of them and wish them the best of luck.)
