Garry Monk has stepped down from his player/manager position and will stay at the club as player/coach. Monk's departure from the manager role was by mutual consent with the club that he's been at since 2004. Bookies tout current Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert as the favorite to take the job, but are also suggesting that unemployed managers Steve Clarke and Gianfranco Zola are interested. Hull City manager Steve Bruce has an outside chance at the job. It is rumored that unemployed manager Daniel Shaw is also interested in the position.

Jose Anigo has stepped down as caretaker manager of Marseille and will retain the role as Director of Football. Anigo has been at the club since 2005. Unemployed manager Marcelo Bielsa is the favorite to take the job, but faces stiff competition from Guus Hiddink, sc Heerenveen manager Marco van Basten, and unemployed manager Ruud Gullit. It is also said that manager Daniel Shaw is semi-interested in the position.

The Blackpool manager position is open as well but Shaw is not interested because he is not familiar with the players at that club. Nations such as Serbia, Angola, DR Congo, Mali, and Curacao are also looking for managers, but Shaw is not ready to take over at the international stage just yet. Shaw will look to apply to Swansea City and if Marseille offer him an interview, he will surely accept.
Swansea City offer Shaw an Interview

After receiving Shaw's application, Chairman Huw Jenkins invited unemployed man Daniel Shaw for an interview.

Jenkins: If hired, we would expect you to position the team for a solid mid-table finish. Is that fair, or do you think you could do even better?

Shaw: I think the proposed expectation is realistic.

Jenkins: We are willing to provide you a transfer budget of 2 Million Pounds, is that sufficient?

Shaw: I would need a transfer budget much larger than that to fulfill expectations.

Jenkins: What about a proposed wage budget of 625,000 Pounds?

Shaw: I would need a slightly larger wage budget than that. I also would like to add that I will be playing an attacking style of football and would like to be judged on that.

Jenkins: Is there anything you request of the club should we hire you?

Shaw: If hired I would like the club to improve its youth recruitment (as of now at an average rating)

Jenkins: We believe our youth recruitment is more than acceptable.

Shaw: In order to make this club a force in future years, I cannot back down on this point and if you do not want to help improve it, then I will not become your manager.

Interview over
Did not agree with the Chairman much, perhaps this job will not suit me.
good luck!

nice content in the updates, maybe do the interview too?
Swansea Interview Unsuccessful
According to the club, they were satisfied with my vision for the club but decided to go in another direction. I realize that I am unemployed and shouldn't be as stubborn as I had been in my interview, but I am looking to take over a club and lead them to success, not to just stagnate with a 2 Million Pound budget and such a tough league as is the English Premier League. I need more substance. Well, Swansea City have appointed former West Brom manager Steve Clarke as their replacement, whom I like very much so good luck to him in Wales. Clarke has no honors as a manager, but he was excellent at West Brom and has many trophies as an assistant manager and as a coach and player. Good luck to him and my wait will continue.

What do you mean? I did provide the interview for Swansea. I never had the chance to interview for Marseille, they appointed Bielsa.
mate..don't worry, keep searching! you probably have to look at lower leagues...what reputation did you set?

I am a former International Footballer. But the fact that Swansea offered me the interview suggests that I could apply to clubs at this level.
yes, if you are a former International Footballer, you won't have problems finding a first league club. I tought that you were sunday league footballer..sorry, now I saw that you wrote in the first post!
Transfer News Update (August 1, 2013)
It is the end of July and I am still unemployed, but that does not mean the football world has stopped around me. Here are some of the transfers (and my analysis) of the biggest names.

Real Sociedad sold Antoine Griezmann for 24 Million Pounds to Manchester City
Barcelona sold Pedro for 19.75 Million Pounds to Chelsea
Atletico Madrid sold Filipe for 13.75 Million Pounds to Tottenham
Newcastle sold Davide Santon for 11.75 Million Pounds to Bayern Munich
Aston Villa sold Fabian Delph for 6.25 Million Pounds to Chelsea
Fiorentina sold Stefan Savic for 5.5 Million Pounds to Porto
PSG sold Blaise Matuidi for 3.5 Million Pounds to Napoli
Atletico Madrid sold Cristian Rodriguez for 3.2 Million Pounds to Porto
West Ham sold James Tomkins for 2.9 Million Pounds to Stoke City
Fiorentina sold Matias Fernandez for 2.5 Million Pounds to Everton
LA Galaxy sold Landon Donovan for 2.4 Million Pounds to Tottenham
Wigan sold Jean Beausejour for 2 Million Pounds to West Brom
AC Ajaccio sold Guillermo Ochoa for 1.9 Million Pounds to Sunderland
Malaga sold Eliseu for 1.5 Million Pounds to Villareal

Analysis
Best Business: Porto: They got great help in the central defense with the addition of 22 year old Savic for a mere 5.5 million. They also added danger to their attack with Cristian Rodriguez. Rodriguez is fantastic off the ball and is trouble on the wing. While he might not have amazing acceleration (15), his movement off the ball (17) causes those right backs a lot of trouble.

Worst Business: Tottenham: Everyone keeps saying that Tottenham need a left back and that Danny Rose is not ready for a starting role. But replace him with 27 year old Filipe? Didn't we just have trouble with team cohesion over this whole season? He can't speak English! Not only will this Spurs team have to worry about tactics, they need a whole training routine dedicated to team cohesion. Tim Sherwood really has a job on his hands. And not only that, but they wasted 14 million pounds on the deal. Next they get Landon Donovan, 31 years old, from LA Galaxy. Now I'm not against experience but it has been clear that Donovan is on the decline. Plus, money has already been spent to add depth to the wings. They have Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend already at the club and they added Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli, not to mention that Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson can both play on the left side. This was surely a useless transfer, a hangover from getting Clint Dempsey.

Most Confusing Deals: Santon to Bayern: Bayern already have David Alaba (same age as Santon and more experienced to Champions League) at the left back position and they have Lahm (super captain) playing right back. Lahm has not shown any reason that he is on the decline. Santon has failed to prove himself ready to compete on the biggest stage. Yes he is a good young talent, but is he ready for a Treble winning team? We'll have to see.

Matuidi to Napoli: This one confuses me for a different reason. Why would PSG let him go? And why for a mere 3.5 million?! Great piece of business for Napoli, but it makes me wonder if PSG plan to make a move for someone like Yaya Toure or perhaps Sandro? We'll have to wait and see.

August Update
French Champions Trophy
Girondins Bordeaux 2-1 PSG

German Super Cup
Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Bayern Munich

Dutch Super Cup
Ajax 2-1 AZ Alkmaar

Italian Super Cup
Juventus 2-1 Lazio E.T.

Supertaca
Vit. Guimaraes 3-1 Porto

Spanish Super Cup
1st Leg: Barcelona 2-0 Atletico Madrid
2nd Leg: Barcelona 2(4)-1(1) Atletico Madrid

European Super Cup
Chelsea 2-1 Bayern Munich

Small Analysis:
Not the best start for Pep as he misses two opportunities for a trophy. Maybe you shouldn't make the best counter-attacking team in the world work tiki-taka? I don't know just my opinion, give him some more time. Also impressive win for Vit. Guimaraes over Porto, especially after the deals Porto made. Same can be said for Girondins Bordeaux over PSG, shouldn't have sold Matuidi.

First some transfers from August, then I will provide the deadline day transfers.

August Transfers
Real Madrid sold Sami Khedira for 14 Million Pounds to PSG
Gladbach sold Patrick Hermann for 8.5 Million Pounds to Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund sold Neven Subotic for 8.5 Million Pounds to Atletico Madrid
Bayern Munich sold Dante for 6.75 Million Pounds to Chelsea

Deadline Day!
Hoffenheim sold Kevin Volland for 12.75 Million Pounds to Bayern Munich... That's it? What a boring Deadline Day!! Where's 'Arry in the helicopter when you need him?
