S-G-E NAMED AS GENK MANAGER

http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g336/Regan_Foy/715d0e2d-99b0-4392-8ad4-025dea53a44d.jpg

Former England coach Sven-Göran Eriksson() has been named as the new Genk manager ahead of the upcoming 2013-14 season. After placing in fifth in the previous season, Genk looked elsewhere for managers, and with their primary target Rafael Benitez() happily managing Napoli they settled with Sven.

Sven, who has enjoyed stints with international sides such as England, Mexico and the Ivory Coast as well as more recent journeys such as Manchester City and Leicester City was seen in the city of Genk a couple of days prior to the announcement, which sparked various rumours surrounding the club's future.

With Genk's success in the league only coming in three occasions, Sven-Göran Eriksson is tasked with turning Genk into a large European powerhouse with the ability to challenge the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

"I am delighted to be welcomed to such a successful club and I am going to try my very hardest to put success at the forefront of everything that I do here. I ask that the fans have patience as results may not come as quickly as they would like, but be assured that they will come regardless."
Lovely start and lovely title, good luck :)

SVEN'S FIRST MOTION

http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g336/Regan_Foy/285ad452-b642-4917-8388-5efacef78bcb.jpg

Sven-Göran Eriksson's first motion as Genk manager was evaluating the squad and finding areas which he deemed weak. The Genk side is full of young talent, and Sven wanted to keep that trend going with his newest acquisition being only twenty-three.

The player in question is one Rodney Sneijder(), brother of famed Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder(). Rodney has enjoyed stints at Ajax and RKC Waalwijk before settling at Almere City. This is where Genk's scouts first spotted him and enlightened Sven around the player's skill level and possibility of a huge future in football. (If his brother's career is anything to go by)

The transfer's amount is undisclosed, however the fee is believed to be around half a million. Genk fans are thrilled to see a new signing but are also cautious surrounding Sven's spending:
"I'm thrilled that he's jumped straight in, but we have no clue about how much he actually has to spend. I don't want him wasting our money however plentiful or scarce it is."

Sven was backed by the board in Rodney's introductory interview, placing their full trust in their new manager "We fully believe that Sven can lead us to eventually glory or we wouldn't have hired him. We are all very interested to see what Sven is capable of."

"We fully believe in Sven" - GENK board.
Nice start and layout!
Thanks a lot Walter :)

Sven-Göran Eriksson today secured his first trophy as Genk manager after demolishing Anderlecht in the Super Cup. The day started with a press conference in the earlier hours of the morning with questions from journalists answered by Sven and team captain Jelle Vossen.

Striker and team captain Jelle Vossen impressed in front of goal today, securing his second hat-trick under Sven's reign. The striker has been attracting attention from Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Liverpool but the Belgian ace has dedicated his services to Genk until 2017.
