Born in St Austell, 14 miles from Truro, former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn commented on Truro City drawing Manchester United in the FA Cup 4th Round in a local radio interview.

“Playing at Old Trafford is something you can never take for granted, it’s a special place.” said Martyn. “It is important for the Truro players to enjoy the moment and relish the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best players in the world.” he added.

Nigel Martyn played for Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Everton during his 19 year career and was capped 23 times for England.
Nigek Martyn with a word of warning,

can Truro upset the odds? Good luck

In the 3rd minute, Jared Sims sent Truro fans into raptures when he put the ball past Ben Amos from a Niall Thompson free kick in a goal which saw the semi-professional side from Cornwall lead Manchester United 1-0. The Truro fans joy was short lived however when Angelo Henriquez equalised two minutes later.

Truro managed to hold off numerous attacks until in the 37th minute Angelo Henriquez headed home a Juan Mata cross to give United the lead. Before the end of the first half, Truro defender Billy Jones received a yellow card for a poor tackle on Juan Mata.

Straight after the half time break, Juan Mata scored from a seemingly impossible angle to increase United’s lead. Billy Jones was then given his second yellow card after another poor tackle to put Truro down to 10 men. The dismissal of Billy Jones opened up the flood gates as United scored five more times in 40 minutes to see Manchester United come away victorious 8-1.
You didn't let them score more than 10 goals ;)

Truro City Become Financially Stable

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/13025d56-577f-4391-9688-23933a1bcd62_zps03050001.jpg.html

After playing in the FA Cup 4th Round against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Truro City has received over £1,000,000 from the fixture and will no longer face the financial issues that have plagued the club since 2011.

“Despite all the terrific on-field performances over the past few years, this is the clubs biggest achievement” said Truro City chairman Pete Masters. “The club being able to compete with its rivals off the field will allow the club to continue to beat its rivals on the field” he added.

This significant figure will allow the club to increase their wage budget with the club expected to allocate £1,500 more per week towards wages, £500 more than what the club had previously allocated to the side when participating in the Skrill South before having to reduce the figure due to financial constraints.
