Van Den Brom leaves RSC

RSCA manager John Van Den Brom has left the club by mutual consent. Van Den Brom had led Anderlecht to the league title earlier this month. This decision was made in correlation in been offered the Anorthosis managerial job.

Former player Hannu Tihinen has been placed in charge until the end of the season.

"Both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down," said Roger Van Stocken in a statement on the club's website.

VdB refused to answer questions about his Anderlecht future following there 3-1 defeat by APOEL in a post season friendly on Wednesday, the club's third loss in 7 games.
And when his press conference ahead of the victory parade on Sunday was cancelled on Friday, it fuelled further speculation that the former manager's tenure was drawing to a close.

"I have found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career," read a statement from Van Den Brom
"I am very sad not to have been able to stay longer but however that is football , many people believe my reason to leave is because of football it isnt, it is do with my fiancee being Cypriot. She asked me to leave and obliged , I do not need the stress that comes with teams like this anymore."

Tihinen" Me and Roger have very similar views for the club and where we would like to see the club progress too. Afer an initial evaluation I believe that I will need in the region of 6 new signings into the club. My main priorities are full backs and another playmaker to accompany Praet. All the players can come to me with anything, well everything apart from blisters , there god's punishment for playing football on the holy day. My expectations are to win the Super Cup, the league and Belgian Cup while finishing third in any UCL group would be an achievement by sny Belgian team. My main focus will be on the league and building a team for the future around Praet , our new captain"

Van Constant" Hannu is a very good raw coach , his cult status at the club will work in his favour , with his plan to breed success , I would like to advise all fans thst this is a ten year project that will allow us to be a European Powerhouse. Hannu will be earning around £24000 a week and has a contract for an intial year that we hope to extend around March. We will give Hannau £7.2 million to win the league when the wage budget is changed"

Spokesperson of RSCA Toronto; Grayson said " Tihinen was my idol when growing up and to have manage my team is an absolute pleasure. I am partically impressed in the faith he has given Praet which he deserves. Many fans will wonder what the team will look like, however I can hope we will sign Thorgan Hazard and other youngsters"
Good Luck!
Great start! Good luck!

Anderlecht Analysis

UEFA.com looks ahead to the Belgian Pro League starting next week and our last team to analysis is the reigning League and Super Cup champions RSC Anderlecht , who are now managed by Hannu Tihinen.

Tihinen is a former Anderlecht player, who has legend status in some areas of the stadium. Tihinen was given a £6M budget to win the title and reach the final of the domestic cup. However after the sales of Aleksandar Mitrović and Luka Milivojević to Barcelona for a combined fee of £17.5 Million with 35% of Mirovic’s sale going to Anderlecht. Incoming to the club were Artem Milevsky , Stanislav Manolev both on free transfers from Gaziantepspor and PSV respectively. The biggest signing was Thorgan Hazard from Chelsea , Anderlecht hijacked his proposed move to Zulte on-loan and joins Anderlecht for a reported £12.5 Million which could rise to £15 Million after 10 Belgian Caps, however this wasn’t the biggest move of the day with Alex Sandro joining from FCP for £15.75 Million , the figure has been reported by A Bola. Other signings included Hilario from Chelsea for £60K who will act as an experience for the Champions League and look to be the number two in the league , also joining is Gaston Rodriguez from The Wanderes for £825K increasing to £1.8M depending on various clauses in the transfer fee accepted.

Anderlecht played a total of nine friendlies and the Super Cup against Genk before the league seasoned began. The first friendly was against Sturm Graz , where RSCA won -0 , thanks to goals from unlikely goalscorers , both being defenders. The second and third games were lacklustre performances just scrapping past Olympic Charleroi and being correctly beaten by a very inform Austria Wien team. This is the moment that Tihenen decided to open the notebook and secure deals for Thorgan and Alex. Namur , Brentford, Le Mans and Banfield came up next with improving displays with three wins and a draw , the draw against Brentford was very unfortunate and the players deserved better than what they got. RSCA’s season then looked to be doomed with surprise defeats to Roma and feeder club TP Mazembe.

Up next was the Super Cup …

The Line Ups:

Dennis Praet started his first game as recently appointed captain ,while former captain Gillet partnered him and de Zeeuw in the centre of the park , De Zeeuw was forced off after 34 minutes with Tielemans coming onto replace him. Anderlecht dominated the game from start to finish with goals from Frank Acheampong securing the victory despite a consolation goal in the 80th minute by Jelle Vossen. The game was subject to a staggering six yellow cards with Genk sent out to disrupt and interrupt the fast flowing football that Tihinen was installed into this new youthful team. Acheampong scored his first gaol thanks to brilliant build up play and a subblime pass from Gillet when the left footed winger smashed home the finsih from the edge of the area. This caused a series of flares to go off in the Genk allocated area of the stadium , resulting in stewards removing 30 fans that were later released after questioning apart from two main ultras Christof and Mathias Van Schwestern.

The second goal came from a header off a Praet free-kick that was dubiously given by the otherwise excellent referee. Vossen scored after a counter attack that saw the striker pick up the ball after a mis-hit pass from Praet across the field , Vossen ran 50 yerds and neatly slotted the ball past the on-rushing Proto. Anderlecht went on to play keep ball for the remaining 10 minutes , while they were oblivious to the mass fighting in the stands. Chants by the Genk fans were aimed at numerous black players on the Anderlecht side which resulted in members of Tifo Mauves Army jumping the stewards cordon and fights broke out in the away section .Two of the Anderlecht fans were brutally injured including being glassed by a senior member of the Genk Ultras.

Tihinen “This was a great victory for the lads , they deserved since the word go. The team had under performed in pre-season but we all had the believe if we got an early goal that we would be able to go on and win this game and the credit has to be given to the lads for proving me right and performing as well as they have done. There was always a danger the players would be distracted by our next game , a derby match against Brugge but I said to my players , one game at a time , every game we win means we are 3 points closer to the championship title.”

Praet” To win a cup in your first game as captain is something very special , not many players ever have done this before. My game wasn’t great but thanks to Frank that was unnoticed , he’s a superb player and can play anywhere across the front three , it will be interesting to see where Artem and Thorgan fit into our team. Thorgan is an outstanding youngster but it wont be easier to get past , Suarez, Bruno and Frank. Artem will probably sit up top but that’s for the manager to decide on. My main aim was to win the game and that’s what we did! We were outstanding out there , I felt sorry for Danny going off so early but Tielemans was more than up to the job; the future is very bright for Belgian football and at Anderlecht”
Nice Update, and a good win.

An unbeaten month has made us early contenders for the league with betfair putting us at 7/4 favourites to lift the title for the 34th time in our history. Our first league game of the season was at home against our rivals Club Brugge , who had a much better pre season than us , Brugge’s attack was spearheaded by Tchite , although loan listed the club has looked to keep him at all costs. Proto had to make 3-4 world class saves to stop Brugge going ahead in the early exchanges due to our poor start. We grew into the game slowly and a 0-0 draw was a fair result with none of us looking likely to score. We entered the Lokoren game full of hope and expectation that we should knock these for six , however our strikers again were not firing on all cylinders, Thorgan was clearly struggling playing as the lone target man , half time game and on came Cyriac, this changed the game , our more creative striker made amble chances and laid on an assist for me to score my first goal of the season , we raced into a four nil lead and become complacent with Proto letting in two sloppy goals in the last five minutes.Kortrijk entered our game as leaders while we trailed in sixth , a cagey opening to the game saw Suarez on his first start of the season grab an opening goal in a very balanced half.In the second half AVDB and Gillet protected the back four allowing me and Thorgan to assist Suarez up top , as expected Kortrijk pressed for an equaliser but man of the match Alex Sandro was as solid as a rock and kept us in it until the last minute when Bruno smashed the ball clear from a poor corner. The game against Gent was awful , I was hauled off after 45 minutes due to outburst at AIK for missing an open goal which he should of scored , Aaron has world class potential but doesn’t show it enough , if Rodriguez or Cyriac was on theyd of buried the chance. Najar came on for me and worked his magic with a thunderous shot from outside the area. Full marks to the gaffer for taking me off , my mind wasn’t on football with my university degree exams taking place in the international break , if you are interested my degree is in business and marketing.

Anderlecht learn Champions League Fate

Tihinen and club captain Praet were present to see the Champions League taking place in Bern this afternoon. Praet was experiencing his first season as captain and has so far scored one goal this season so far. At only 18 there are lots of questions asked of him by his manager and many media outlets believe he is too young to be captain.Anderlecht have also been given £7.26 million due to their participation in the groups stages.

After landing back in Brussels the team greeted me and Tihinen at the airport. The mood among the playing staff was positive, they all believed we could finish 2nd in our group beating Porto to the knockout stages. The draw overall was one of the it could have been to us , we avoided the likes of Real ,Barca and Bayer. The best news was that we avoided Milan who were in the second seeded pots having them at Atleti would of made our task even more harder. The gaffer has set a target of accumulating 8 points to see us through the group stages. Personally I think we should look to win both our games against Copenhagen , drawing away and winning at home against Porto whereas anything against Atleti is a bonus. I am also delighted to announce I am in negotiations to sign a new 5 year deal that will show my commitment to the cause. The deal will see me earn £16,500 a week with the option of another three years if the club decide to trigger this clause. The main aim of me signing the new deal was because there are rumours circulating that David Moyes wants to sign me , and honestly I have no desire to work under such a useless , whisky happy Scot that’s got about as much knowledge on football as I do on Mongolian pottery.

Zulte posted a threat in the first half of the game but after the first 30 minutes are continious passing broke them down both physically and mentally , they couldn’t chase us down for the 90 minutes with the same intensity. I finally got an assist for Bruno to score the second, and Artem scored a goal to send us joint top on goal difference from Genk. The first half against Mons has very poor , thi season we’ve not started a single game well , we need to address this soon because in the UCl we will be beaten heavily. The second half was no better and frankly we were lucky to escape with a point. The game against Copenhagen was a game we were supposed to win and the media expected us to slaughter them , we went into half time in a buoyant mood leading 1-0 thanks to Thorgan’s first goal of the season and played a steady controlled game in the second half to gain our first win in Europe this season. The Classic of Belgium was next and this meant more than the three points on top , it was built up as the deciding game of the season , usually whoever wins these games claims the title. The first half was fast furious and dirty with the score 0-0 at halftime even though I had hit the bar. Then the gaffer made three changes at half time and made us more attacking causing Alex Sandro to play as LWB and from there he scored his first goal for the club, minutes later Alex slipped and allowed Batshuyai to score. The Cup game was the first game I have missed all season , the gaffer decided to rest some of his main players allowing the youngsters a run out. The game was a rather routine win with Bruno scoring twice after replacing Rodriguez on his first game back from injury in the 16th minute. The game against Cercle was a game we dominated but couldn’t take our chances to score , we should of scored at least once when Artem hit the bar from far out. Overall the month was steady but we need to turn these draws into wins if we would like to win the league

The View From The Dressing Room

Our first home game of the UCL ended in disappointment, as a team we knew it would be tough but to be 4-0 down after 56 minutes was an embarrassment , the guys felt sorry for the fans and as a gesture have paid for all the travelling expenses to Porto away next month. The game against Louven was a complete turnaround, we started brightly thanks to Gillet and AVdB in the center of the park, from there there was no looking back , Bruno our player of the season so far ran the show up front with Artem. On the Artem issue; I back the manager in his views and Artem is being very unprofessional over the matter. Moving onto the Charleroi game , we dominated from word go and held a comfortable victory in possession but couldn’t turn this into goal. The second half saw us switch to a more attacking mentality and this paid off with Wing-Back Manolev coolly slotting home a 25 yard shot. Porto made the 2 hour trip to Brussels looking for their first points in the group stages and they took the lead thanks to Quaresma after a pinpoint shot beat Proto , whom damaged his shoulder in the process. Artem played his heart out today despite the off-field dramas and capped this by scoring the equaliser , Bruno then completed the comeback with a fine goal while Proto made a wonder save in the last minute of injury time to deny Danilo and Porto their first points. The Genk game was the biggest of the season lose and we could be 8 points behind next time we play , win and we’d be level on points with them. The game was fiery and hostile with the traumas of the Super Cup in everyone’s mind. The Genk Fans were banned from the match after crowd trouble that day. Genk scored a dubious penalty but Suarez scored the goal that equalised early in the second half , from then on we battled and piled on the pressure and were unlucky not to win after a controversial Artem goal was disallowed

The View From The Dressing Room

Our first game of the month was played at home against struggling Lierse , the was seen as a vital chance to leapfrog Genk whom dropped points surprisingly during the week. The game began slowly and we went into half time shellshocked , 20 attempts and non on target , our game was good but the finishing was awful. We changed to a 4-4-2 attacking formation and that proved wonders, with Bruno and Artem combining upfront to the best degree. The game put us top for a short period of time but a fortunate own goal send Genk back to the top with 12 games played each. Two counter attacks condoned us to defeats in Oporto with both goals coming from world-class winger Ricardo Quaresma his 2nd and 3rd goal in two games against us. We still sit second in the group and know that a win over Copenhagen will see us through to the last 16.Another poor performance but still the only unbeaten team in Belgium after that performance , Bruno and Klijestan performed really well for us but the travelling and lack of fitness caught up on us costing us two sloppy goal. On the only midweek game of the month we played our opponents off the park with Milevyski being the MOTM for the 7th league game in 10 games , the boy has an attitude but when he’s on his game he’s the best player in the league. Tielemans did exceptionally well deputizing for me due to a small ankle knock. What a performance by my teammates against Oostende , I missed the game because of my injury again , racing into a 4-0 lead at half time helped and then the Artem show started , he proved why so many clubs want to buy him and we all hope he and the gaffer but there problems to one side and he signs a new contract. The pressure was too much against Copenhagen and we bottled the chance to qualify , meaning we will have to get a result in Madrid and hope Porto beat Copenhagen to progress. Nuytinck was sent off for a shocking tackle and deserved his fine.
