The View From The Dressing Room

The Classic of Belgium would define our season realistically we had to win 13/15 games left to win the league and any loss at this stage would see us fall away from the Genk express train. AVdB hit the bar in the first twenty minutes while we piled on the pressure looking to go into half time infront. Brugge took an early lead thanks to Duarte but Artem scored straight away to give us a 1-1 scoreline after 7 minutes. Brugge retook the lead after Gillet gave away a penalty butSuarez saved the day with a delicate chip from 25 yards out. The teams form has hit the wall at this point and we need reinforcements in the winter window , weve got no Plan B and this is costing us in the tight nervy games that we are playing in. the Lokeren cup game was a sham , on paper we should of walked it but we got beat on penalties ; simply we aren’t good enough to win this league. The gaffer brought in the new DoF last week and he’s brought in Ray Wilkins to help with the tactics and boy has it worked , our 4-0 win over Lokeren was our best game this season. Holy shit , we went to the Calderon and beat Atleti to finish 2nd in our group , we are the first Anderlecht team to reach the knockout rounds ! #COYM.. The following league game saw us face 3rd place and thanks to an early goal by Frank it set us on the way to victory, I’ve not played many games recently due to fatigue but a months rest will do me well. Our first loss in the league came at home gainst Zulte were fatigue and travelling were the killers of our poor performance. We rarely threatened and should of performed better. I hold my hands up for the defeat after giving away a stupid penalty.A rather weak team was fielded due to many of the squad’s fatigue but they didn’t let us down and N’Salaka was the best player on the park by far , he is a good young player that can play in full-back or on the wing. The winter break has come at the right time despite being joint top we have been awful this month and need the month to relax and regain our energy

The View From The Dressing Room

The winter break was a welcomed relief and we all got 5 days off to relax while a development squad travelled to Peru to play Initi Gas. The following Wednesday a selection of the development team and the first team played against genk in a game which we dominated from minute one , not bad against an amateur team … Our first big test was playing Cittadella away , Italy is always a hard place to play but thanks to Vargas , returning from injury they were beaten without our leaky defence being tested. On we went to Korea and played Suwon who were in good form; they were a really strong defensive team that showed us how to defend but Toni our new rising star scored twice to give us a well deserved draw
