September Update

Lionel Messi

Luis Enriques September Update

What a month that was! Again a little dirt spot on our way to glory, with the Champions League loss against AC Milan, but that's how cruel football can be. You can have all the chances in a match, but if you don't use it proparly you can lose against such a good team, which scores 100% of their chances.
But except of this match it was a month to remember for the Cules, as we won all of our La Liga fixtuers in a fancy way.
We can always count on Lionel, when it matters, he scored in every game this month (7games/11goals/4assists) and is leading the scoring stats in a way, that you can only give him standing ovations.
Also was it good to see, how Sergi Roberto dealt with his situation as he was thrown in the water, as Cesc and Andres will be out for a couple of weeks.
Jean-Marie Dongou made his League debut this month and will be dipping his foot in the squad from now on, but his main responisble is to keep the B-Team clear of the relegation area.

The Masia talents will be our future!

Luis Enrique had a short interview with Sky Sports after "el clasico".
He talked about his transfer plans for the upcoming transfer window, unsettled players and his vision of Barcelona in the next few years.

Sky Sports: Mr. Enrique you're the Manager for about a quater year, can you give us a short summary of your first impressions and the beginning of the season?

Luis Enrique: The first months showed that we're about to challange Athletico and Real for the League title, we were a little behing Real, but the clasico got us right behind them. It was an intense match, but we showed that we can beat every team on the planet, if we show what we're all about. And with probably the best player ever in our team, we can always score, even if no one would bet a pound on us!

I suggest that you're talking about Lionel Messis run this season?

Of course, he scored so many goals this season, that i think he might beat his 50 goals season, two years ago. But it's to easy to say, that we only are competetiv if Lionel scores. We are more than just Lionel. We have such amazing players like Busi, Pique, Xavi or Andres and all have one thing in common.

You mean "La Masia"?

You can bet on that. La Masia will, as far as i'm in charge, the foundation to the senior and B-team. This season we had 3 new Spanish A-Team players with Montoya, Bartra and Tello and i hope that we "produce" even more and as you saw Sergi Roberto will be a future star, if he keeps his feet on the ground! Also Jean-Marie Dongou made his first steps in the senior team and we try to include more Masia players in the first team

But you can't just rely on the Masia players, as there are very young and aren't as experienced as etablished players, which might get on the transfer market. Will you dipp your feet in the transfer market water? Will players have to leave, so that Masia players can take there spot in the first team?

Ibra asked me to leave, but he won't be sold for any price, as he is a good player, which sadly is really injury prone. I will have some talks with him, as he has all the potential in the world to be a starter in about 95% of the teams world wide. But i don't agree with your suggestion that you need established players, the players here understand every think you need to know. Every team here is playing with the same tactics, so that the players don't need to learn a lot tactically if there are promoted to a higher team.

Which players will get a chance in the next season or maybe after the winter break to step into the first team squad?

Gerard and Rafinha are on loan and as far as it seems, they are learning a lot and surely will get a chance to be in the next years squad. In the winter break, there won't be many changes, as the team stays as they are. Only if players are unsetteld there might be sold, if they ask for it, but this will depend on the players, if i don't plan to sell anyone for now.

PSG made 26 mio.€ bid for Pedro

Barcelona rejected an transfer offer from Paris St. Germain, but it seems that Paris will make any further moves for the Barcelona Winger.
"Pedro won't be sold to anyone" said Luis Enrique in response to the rumors.

Laurent Blanc on Pedro

I'll be doing everything in my power to convince Pedro to join Paris St. Germain in the winter transfer window!
It will be a tough race for Blanc as the Barcelona Manager, Luis Enrique, already said that Pedro is a main part of the starting eleven.

Sergi Roberto

Luis Enriques October Update

Another month, another loss which was avoidable.
Thanks to our el clasico win we are stil only 1 point behind Real in La Liga Table.
It was a joy to see, how Sergi Robertos performances are getting better and better and it seems, that he can fulfill Xavis footsteps, if he performs like the last couple of games, but it's a long way to grow into these footsteps.
Neymar jr. seems to grow confidence, as he finally scored his first goals for FC Barcelona this month, but he won't be overplayed, as he is still new in this country and club and he should first develop his personal matters, before he will be a starting regular.
