Saturday 3th August 2013 15:00

Rochdale AFC V Hartlepool 1-0

Sky Bet league 2
Spotland
Attendance: 1823

Jack O'Connell (6')

Jack O'Connell (7.6)

Highlights:

The game started with an early goal from a corner. Matty Done delivered a brilliant corner on to the head of O'Connell. After that there were not many chances, Hartlepool had only 1 big chance on the hour mark but Antony Sweeny couldn't finish. It's a good result but we need to practise on our in-play goalscoring. If we play away it will be even more difficult to score. Eyes on the Capital One cup tier against Sheffield United now, we'll try to go to the next round but it won't be easy.

Rochdale AFC reveal new shirts

Rochdale AFC have revealed their new home and away shirts for the season 13/14 after an agreement between Adidas and the Dale was reached. Rochdale will earn 200k a year with this deal, 5 years long. Rochdale stay with their traditional blue and black colors. The away shirts are similar to the first home shirts ever from 1907 when the club was founded.

Rochdale AFC V Sheffield United 2-4

Capital One Cup
Spotland
Attendance: 1717

Matty Done (4')
Derek Asamoah (12',51',74')
Billy Paynter (46')
Jack O'Connell (82')

Derek Asamoah (9.5)

Highlights:

After 4 minutes Matty Done made it already 1-0 after a great touch on the chest and a cool finish. 1-0. Then Blades' winger Derek Asamoah scored a beautiful shot from range. 1-1. Sheffield weren't finished yet for this half, after a good solo from Jamie Murphy, Michael Doyle only had to tap it in from 4 yards out. 1-2. In the second half Derek Asamoah was at it again when he headed a pin point cross from Jamie Murphy in the net. 1-3. Asamoah was unstoppable in this game with another great distance shot from just outside the box. 1-4. Jack O'Connell got a goal back in the 82nd minute but it was far too late to turn this game around. 2-4. Rochdale out of the Capital One cup in the first round.

Saturday 10th August 15:00

Burton Albion V Rochdale AFC 1-2

Sky Bet League 2
Pirelli Stadium
Attendance: 2491

Matty Done (25')
Adam McGurk (53')
Ian Henderson (60')
Junior Brown (89')

Peter Vincenti (7.3)

Highlights:

We had most of the possession in both halfs but still it wasn't easy to break through Burton's Defence. They were well organised but after 24 minutes a through ball from Scott Hogan came into the feet of Done and he finished it well. 0-1. In the 2nd half captain Cansdell-Sherriff hoofed the ball upfield and it came to Adam McGurk who made a great rush down the left-hand side and delivered a great cross for Lee Bell to finish it. 1-1. I thought it was gonna end in a draw after substitute Junior Brown missed 2 big chances 15 minutes before full time, but Brown got a 3rd chance ,with 2 minutes of regular playtime to play, of putting his team in front and the Fleetwood loanie finished it in a cool way. 1-2.In added time Adam McGurk got a terrific chance from 5 yards out with his head of putting his team on equal numbers, but he couldn't make good contact and the ball went only a few inches wide. A good 1 goal margin win again. Ian Henderson's injury is the only negative thing about this game. He'll be out for at least 4 weeks.

Saturday 17th August 2013 15:00

Rochdale AFC V Chesterfield 3-3

Sky Bet League 2
Spotland
Attendance: 2426

Gary Roberts (19')
Matty Done (43',78')
Tendayi Darikwa (61',76')
George Porter (88')

Matty Done (8.8)

Highlights:

Rochdale were looking to get their 2nd win of the season in their own stadium but Chesterfield thought otherwise and grabbed the lead after 18 minutes through a great cross from Jimmy Ryan on the head of Gary Roberts who calmly finished it. 0-1. After 42 minutes a good run from centre-striker Scott Hogan on the left-hand side was put into the back of the net by key player Matty Done. 1-1. Tendayi Darikwa got a clear-cut chance on the hour mark and he didn't let his teammates down. 1-2. Right winger Tendayi Darikwa scored another one in the 76th minute of the game by running past Michael Rose and putting the ball through the legs of Robbie Thomson. 1-3.
Matty Done was desperate for another goal and he got it after a long ball from Rhys Bennett, the right full back, which fell over the defence and he was able to lob it over Tommy Lee. 2-3. After another late goal, this time from winger George Porter, Rochdale had collected an expensive point after being down 2 goals. 3-3.

Saturady 24th August 2013 15:00

Plymouth Argyle V Rochdale AFC 1-0

Sky Bet League 2
Home Park
Attendance: 5245

Lewis Alessandra (15')
Joe Rafferty (84')

Lewis Alessandra (7.3)

Highlights:

The game started with a great chance in the 5th minute for Scott Hogan, but he was stopped after a good save from Luke McCormick. After 11 minutes Luke Young set up Alessandra who went past the goalie and put the ball in the back of the net. 1-0.
The people in the stadium had to wait until the 39th minute for the next good chance, after Jayden Stockley delivered a great cross into Asante but his shot landed on the post. The second half was similar to the first one, not much chances. The first chance was again for Scott Hogan in the 63th minute after an error in defence from Curtis Nelson, but he was lucky that Hogan put it wide. Peter Vincenti got a terrific chance to level for Rochdale in the 75th minute, but his distance shot was saved brilliantly by McCormick. After a long ball from goalie McCormick, Asante got a great oppurtunity to double the lead, but again the chance was missed. It was a calm game with not too many chances but in the end Plymouth kept the points home with a 1-0 win.

Saturday 31st August 2013 15:00

Oxford United V Rochdale AFC 0-0

Sky Bet League 2
The Kassam stadium
Attendance: 5450

Alfie Potter (63')
Johnny Mullins (77')

Andy kellett (7.9)

Highlights:

Just like the game against Plymouth this was also a very boring game with few chances. The first big chance was just before half time when Jason Kennedy passed the ball into Done who curved the ball only a few inches wide. In the 72nd minute Dave Kitson received an absolutely brilliant chance with his head but a brilliant save from Thomson kept it 0-0. Scott Hogan got the last big oppurtunity of the game in the 81st minute when he was launched by Jason Kennedy, but again he couldn't find his scoring skills and he missed the biggest chance in this game. It was a very dissapointing game for Rochdale especially because Oxford received a red card and still the Dale couldn't break through. 0-0 in this uninteresting game.

Rochdale AFC: August report.

League place: 11th

Fixtures:

We only got 8 points out of 15, that's not what I expected. It were mostly the top teams of the league we were facing but still it's a disappointing start of the season. We only conceded 5 goals in the league, which is good, but we also only scored 6, which is very disappointing. We need to score more goals if we want to go for the play-offs. Maybe look out for a new striker and put Hogan on the flanks. In september we have an easy schedule apart from Accrington Stanley, who performed above their level. I'm hoping for 9 points out of the 12.

Rochdale sign French midfielder.

Rochdale have signed French midfielder Damien Mozika for free after Torquay released him. The midfielder has played for several English teams, for example Scunthorpe and arch rivals Bury.
James Gardner is very pleased that they have contracted the midfielder:
"Damien is a very good player with some expierence in this league. The midfield lacked a bit of performance, but with Damien, their comes more concurrence in the squad and that will motivate the players to work hard for their spot in the first eleven."

Mozika will earn around 1.5k a week and his contract runs out in 2015.
good signings mate!

Rochdale AFC v Preston 0-2

Johnstone's Paint Trophy
Spotland
Attendance: 815

Joe Garner (20',76')
Jack O'Connell (81')

Joe garner (8.8)

Highlights:

Again a loss and no goals for rochdale. Preston were the better team all game long against a weak Rochdale, they didn't create any chances and the defending was poor as well. After 19 minutes and a bit captain Keith Keane swung in an early cross which Joe Garner headed in brilliantly. 0-1. After 32 minutes striker Graham Cummins missed a great chance set up by a run on the wing from Hogan, who delivered a brilliant cross into the feet of Cummins. Graham Cummins missed another chance after a free kick from new signing Mozika was deflected in the wall and came into the feet of Cummins, who missed again. At half time Cummins was subbed for Donnelly, who ran through the defence in the 56th minute and had the chance to level, but the 25-year old's shot landed on the body of goalie Declan Rudd. in the 65th minute Scott Hogan went down in the box after a challenge from Alex Nicholson, but referee Sheldrake denied the appeals. In the 76th minute a distance shot from Preston captain Keane landed off the bar and in the rebound O'Connell wasn't paying enough attention, so Garner could make his second of the night. Matty Done mised possibly the best chance of the game. He was set up by Lund's through ball and he ran past the goalie, but on the line stood Bailey Wright to clear the shot of Done.

Saturday 7th September 2013 15:00

Rochdale AFC v Bury 2-2

Sky Bet League 2
Spotland
Attendance: 3395

Danny Mayor (33')
Anton Forrester (35')
Junior Brown (79')
Scott Hogan (87')
Joe Rafferty (90+1')

Danny Mayor (8.3)

Highlights:

The derby started with a chance for Rochdale. Mozika passes into target man Cummins who passed it through to the infiltrating Matty Done, but his shot ended up against goalie Jensen. After 32 minutes, bury got a free kick at the edge of the area. Mayor kicked it over the wall and the Bury fans were cheering. 0-1. In the 34th minute Nardiello turned away from Lancashire, he swung in a good cross and Forrester headed it well in. 0-2. The third goal fll in the 76th minute when Hogan passed it through to substitute Junior Brown, who calmly finished it. 1-2. In the 86th minute goalie Jensen gave away the lead when he threw the ball into the feet of Brown, who passed to Hogan and he finished the chance. 2-2. In added time Joe rafferty was send off when he received a second yellow card. A terrible result for Rochdale but a great result for Bury.
