My name is Paul Dalglish, I played for Liverpool and Celtic youth teams and played professionally for Newcastle, Norwich, Wigan, Blackpool and a few other teams. Despite this I have always been in my dads shadow. You probably know my dad, he was only Liverpool's best ever player and the best player to come out of Scotland.
I was sitting in my living room, on a Saturday morning watching Soccer AM, the show I worked for, for 2 years before having my football career revived by Paul Lambert who was managing Livingston at the time.
It was an unknown number, I answered.
'Hello, who is this?', I said.
'Hi Paul, its Ian Ayre here, the managing director of Liverpool Football Club, I was contacting you to ask you in you want to become the manager of this Football Club'
Excitement was pumping through my veins, 'Why, why me?' I said.
'Due to your fathers success as a player and a manager at this prestigious club, it seemed only right to see if the eye for success runs in the family'
'When do I start?'
3 days later.
Before i knew it I was walking through the doors of Melwood, making my way to the press room for my first press conference as the manager of Liverpool Football Club.
