Wenger promises further transfers

Arsene Wenger has promised to continue his out-of-character splurge on the transfer market and will further bolster his squad in the coming weeks.
Wenger is enjoying the renewed financial muscle at the club as they improved their current terms with Emirates Airlines, meanwhile a Puma deal is expected to further swell the clubs coffers from next year. £42.5million has already been spent on luring Mesut Ozil from Madrid, but, Wenger promises this is not an end of his activity.
"After our capture of Mesuit and Mathieu [Flamini] I feel the squad are close to mounting a strong challenge for the title," Wenger said. "We need to bolster our squad further with quality and we are working on achieving that."
Wenger would not be drawn on specific names but the Arsenal manager did state the positions he hoped to improve on. "A goalkeeper is a key target, another striker, and another central defender. These are key positions where we can improve the strength and depth of our squad."
Rumours suggest that Wenger may spend another £30million which has sparked rumours about his own future at the club. Wenger has just 12 months remaining on his contract and some reporters have claimed this strange splurge is a bid to ensure he exits the club on a high. "That is stupid, I've always put Arsenal football club first and I always will. I never do anything for short term gain, especially for myself, I work to improve the club on a long term basis.
"I have never entered contract talks while I have a current deal, I won't talk about extending my contract until the season is over. It's always been that way but the media forget this when it gives them a good story."
