In what may be seen as a surprise appointment, the AS Monaco FC board has named a virtually unknown Syrian head coach as their new manager.

Winchester, who turns 27 next birthday, was introduced to the fans and journalists this morning (2nd of July 2013).
A press conference has been called to officially introduce Winchester to the world.

- Why did you choose to sign for AS Monaco FC specifically?
- Because of the exciting project that the boards have suggested, I'm willing to take AS Monaco FC to the next level.

- That means there is a high level of ambition that you found in the chairman, do your ambitions meet with his?
- Yes, both of us want the best for the club.

- What about the expectations?
- Our minimum expectation is to qualify for the Champions League, we would also like to challenge for the title!

- You have taken this job without being able to speak French, wouldn't it be hard for you to manage a club in France?
- I've started learning French the minute I applied for the job, don't worry.

- Some of the people in the club are a bit afraid of the changes you are going to bring, should we expect some changes?
- I've already studied the current status of the club. I say, don't expect major changes. I'm pleased with the current status to be honest.

- The fans are excited about the future of the club, do you think you can deliver good performances within the short term?
- We will find out soon.

- Will you be concentrating primarily on achieving in the Ligue 1?
- Yes, of course.

- What about the domestic cups?
- I believe that every club must give a chance to the youth, it is important for them to play football and the domestic cup is the best chance for every young player to prove himself.

- It is often said that money buys success in football, you must be delighted with the funds you currently have?
- Yes, I'm pleased with the current financial status. However, every club must balance between youth development and spending on players and that is what I'm going to try to do.

- It's clear that youth development is a crucial philosohpie for you, how do you think it will help AS Monaco FC for the short term?
- Look, youth development doesn't usually help you in the short term, however, in the long term it will help the club produce talented homegrown players.
