In a press conference held today at the Borussia Mönchengladbach training complex Lucien Favre announced the shock news that he would be stepping down as manager and ending his two year reign at the club.

"I've fallen out of love with the game. When your whole life is football you sometimes get fed up with the same thing week after week.I will see how I feel in a year maybe two years time and at that point I will decide if I will return to football management, But now this time is dedicated to my family, my wife and my kids."

In his two years at the club Favre achieved the clubs highest finish in the league since 1996. Favre was also a favourite with fans and players alike with one of the clubs key players Patrick Herrmann saying "He was very inspiring in the way he motivated the players and got us all to gel together as a team not a group of individuals. I can speak for everyone one associated with the club that he will be sorely missed and whoever succeeds him will have massive shoes to fill."

Gladbach Appoint Former Danish International

A mere two days after the resignation of Lucien Favre Former Danish international Brian Laupdrup as Manager on a one year contract. Laudrup had an illustrious footballing career spanning over fourteen years and including clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea, AC Milan, Rangers and Fiorentina. He also made 82 caps for Denmark scoring 21 goals and played a vital role in Denmark's 1992 European Championship win as well as there 1998 Confederation Cup victory.

Rolf Königs, The current Borussia Mönchengladbach president said "He's a young manager with a lot of potential and a lot of willingness to achieve victory, albeit he doesn't come here with a lot of experience which is a risk, but believe Brian has an in-depth tactical of the game and hopefully he can bring some of the traits learned from the great managers he's worked with over the years. "

Laudrup himself stated he is "excited to get started" and will give an official interview at a later date once he has settled in and met the players.
Give me a B!

BL - Brian Laudrup

RK - I am glad you have all joined us today to fully introduce our new manager Brian Laudrup. He we are very proud to welcome him as part of the Gladbach family. And now I shall pass you on to our new manager.

BL - Thanks, I'll take any questions now.

J - What are your aims here at the club ?

BL - To get a steady league position this year and then in the following years start to climb our way up the table with the eventual goal of winning the league.

J - Does this mean you will be here for the long run ?

BL - Definitely Gladbach is a growing club with a good youth system and with a bit of time and a bit of funding I believe we can be up there with you Manchester Uniteds and your Barcelonas.

J - How much strengthening does the squad need at the moment ?

BL - Not a lot to be fair. Lucien has left a very strong and very little needs done, maybe one or two signings at the most.

J - Is there a specific style of football you will be looking to employ ?

BL - I think a more counter attacking style of football would be more effective at the club and that is what I will mostly try to employ.

RK - I feel this conference has ran it's course. Thank you everyone for your questions and I hope you will all join me once more in wishing our new manager Brian Laudrup a long and successful career at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
