Without Mark things were very different in the dressing rooms. He was always a loud and charismatic figure who motivated the players, without him, it's different. I needed to get the players motivated. I finally found an assistant manager named Sam Murray. He was good, he was very studious and had a great tactical understanding, which is why I brought him on board. He settled into the team well, but he wasn't the same big figure matt was. However I'm incredibly pleased with the month, we recorded some great wins and retained top of the table in the league. In fact, we move above the rest by a great margin.
Results & Fixtures
Month of injury: Broich faced a couple of niggling injuries during the month, which meant he sometimes couldn't attend training and prepare for the game ahead.
December was a decent month where we picked up a couple of good results, and then unfortunately our first loss of the season. The team was full of niggling injuries, so I had to rest players and slow down the intensity of trainings, which was against my style, where very training was done with incredibly high intensity. I was pleased with the results though, they were decent and we retained top of the table, which was important for the team.. We were rebuilding without Mark, and I am confident we can go the next month with straight wins.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Thomas Broich
A good result against a quick passing United who were exceeding expectations in the league. Broich had a great game for us today, making the play happen as usual, whilst Bulos managed to bag another one in the net. I was annoyed that Solaranzo was once again delayed playing time by injury, and hingert was also injured in the game.
Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix (0-0)
MAN OF THE MATCH: -
A really disappointing performance from the boys. This was a winnable game, one I thought we should've won and could've won. Broich was withdrawn at the 72nd minute due to slight injury, alongside Miller and McKay. Our whole midfield. I was very agitated at their aggressive and dirty play, and I let the press know perfectly clear how I felt about the Phoenix afterwards.

MAN OF THE MATCH: -
Another really disappointing result from the boys. Broich couldn't play due to an ankle injury before, and his absence was really noticeable. Without him we didn't tick, we couldn't create chances and we couldn't flow. The ended up catching us on the counter, with Heskey and Griffiths, who were beast on the counter and we just couldn't contain him. I was disappointed with the boys, and I want them to bounce back in the next game.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Ivan Franjic
A great result for the boys. We bounced back exactly as I told them to, and played exactly how I wanted them to. Possession based football, we held 68% possesion, Franjic bombed down the right and Broich put in another fantastic performance to put us through the line towards a win. He really has been our best player so far, and I hope this is the same for the rest of the season.
Player of the Month
Thomas Broich
Once again Broich inspired us through the month when he was on the field. He played in both the games we won, and wasn't there when we lost. It just shows how important of a player he is for us, and I only hope is form improves. He edged everyone to this player of the month award, which makes it his second so far. I'm really happy with Broich so far, and I only hope he stays fit for the rest of the season where I hope he can inspire us to the title and the championship.
