Pre-season 2013-14
We had a very up and down pre-season. It was very long and allowed me to test many different tactics and players so hopefully I we have a successful season ahead.
We started off with a a game against our
U21s and we ended up winning it quite comfortably. Although all of our goals were in the second half, we dominated possession, created many chances and the opposition never looked like threatening.
Next up was an away trip to
Potters Bar. Once again it was a comfortable victory for us and we were simply a level above them. I brought on some youngsters in the second half and they disappoint me at all.
We had a 3 o'clock kick off against
Arsenal U21s next. I wasn't optimistic going into this match so I wasn't that disappointed with the result. In fact, I was pleased with our performance. We had a few good spells of possession and created a couple of decent chances but our finishing was poor.
Next we were up against League 1 outfit
Brentford. Again, I wasn't expecting much going into this game. This was quite a frustrating match for me to watch. We struggled to get the ball around and were sloppy in possession Whereas the opposition were clinical and ruthless in attack.
An away trip to
Oxford Cityfollowed. This was a tricky affair but we ran away with a 1-0 win. Pretty good display from both teams but we took our chance in the 70th minute and walked away as victors.
Up next we had to entertain
Watford. I couldn't really be mad at the lads for the result as Watford are clearly a better team. The opposition were clinical in their attacks and they were simply better than us on all fronts. Nothing we could do.
Luton was the next frienly. This was the worst performance in the entire pre-season on my books. Luton are a team that I really felt we could beat them. Once again we struggled in possession and our few chances chances were very dull and meaningless.
Our last away match was against
Biggleswade Town. This was a straight forward match and a comfortable 3-0 victory for the wood. We looked very sharp and threatening on the attack and our defence done their job when the had to.

We ended our Pre-season with a visit from
West Ham. This was such an inspiring performance from our defence and I'm really proud of them. The hammers threw everything at us but we kept denying them and the ball spent more time in row Z than in the back of our net.
Overall Thoughts
As I already said, This was a very up and down run of games. Of course some of the games against bigger teams were decided by the opposition and I couldn't fault my team but I do still think that we could've done much better in the other games as we looked very lacklustre at times. Consistemcy is something that must be addressed if we are to be successful in the forthcoming season.
Player of Pre-season
Player of pre-season was close but I've chosen kudus oyenuga, on loan from Dundee Utd. He looked very sharp in most games and always got him himself in dangerous positions. I will have to use him very wisely as he is deadly and can cause lots of trouble amongst the opposition defence.
