A player that was missing

Let me preface this by saying that I never played 2006, just 2005 and jumped to 2007, but there was a really awesome South African player that was in 2005 that isn't in 2007. He always started the game, always same spelling, always same club so I didn't think he was regen. He was called Junior Khanye his potential was only 174 (started aged 19 at 119) but he was definetly my best player. Better than C.ronaldo, lampard, ballack etc (I was chelsea and signed ronaldo and ballack blah blah). He honestly got a 10 for nearly every single game he played and won player of the year and midfielder of the year every single year too, and I played that file until 2018.

I miss him.

Damn, I know and I have seen a lot of players in FM series and in reality, but this one I swear it's the first time I hear about him. However, I have experienced a similar case scenario, with a couple of players being extraordinary awesome (I can remember a Portuguese player much better than Deco, a Brazilian defender better than any defender and a Chilean attacking midfielder ruling the universe... I can't remember any names though).

I searched for Khanye in FM 2008 and found him, but his stats are very poor. He is available on a free transfer, aged 22. He is a left winger with good pace/acceleration and nice dribbling skill and perfect flair, but apart from those most stats are below 10.

I couldn't find him on my file which has a small database, but I'll take your work for it.

Players like him that appear once every 10 new games you start, they are likely to be found using large database (but possibly with small too), but selecting to load players from specific country, in this case South Africa. I usually select to load players from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Norway and Sweden, because there are certain players from those countries that I like to acquire and they are hard to be included when not selecting to load any more players than the default of a small (or whatever size) database.

I was always under the impression that a small database just loaded all the best players, cause I usually play as Chelsea and thats all I need - am I wrong?

in theory, small database loads more or less the best known players, but there is a difference between the best known and the best unknown players :wink

this also means that even players with a photo won't be included in a small or large database if you haven't specified to load all players from a certain nation.

for example, in fm07 aythami was the best dc for me, i was buying him every time from las palmas that he was playing. this year, he was actually bought from deportivo... and if you select to load all players from spain, you will find him and he has a photo too. if you don't select to load all players from spain, it is likely that you won't find him anywhere.

The attacking midfielder from Chile may well have been Matias Fernandez. recently signed for Villareal. if not check him out anyways.. he's savage!
